Define 5 Horizons of Focus First.

On a scale of 1-10 how overwhelmed are you with all the things you got to do this Monday, Angela ?

?? or ???

The New Kind of Productivity

Today is Monday, and this week, we are diving into a fresh take on productivity.

Not the kind that’s about cramming more busyness into your day, leading to chronic pressure, overwhelm, and mediocre results??

Nope!

I’m talking about the kind of productivity that starts with crystal-clear priorities and leads to achieving high-quality results while maximizing the life you love.

The Real Productivity Killer

You know what I’ve learned over the years?

It’s not life or some flaw in our character that slows our progress.

It’s the lack of priorities.

When you’re unclear on what truly matters, you end up indecisive, overwhelmed, and buried under a pile of things to do—things you’ll likely never get to.

??This leaves you feeling tired, busy, overworked, and yet somehow still not hitting significant milestones.

Not exactly the life of your dreams, right?

(And by the way, living your dream life isn’t reserved for the lucky ones. It’s everyone’s right to get it.)

What allows me and other high achievers to get more done without the rush and burnout is having a VERY clear priority. This makes decision-making faster and execution more effective.

It’s kind of like grocery shopping.

??If you don’t know your eating philosophy, navigating a supermarket these days can be overwhelming and take way too much of your time that you’ll never get back!

The problem isn’t the endless choices and distractions; it’s the lack of a good filtration system, a lack of priorities.

As my mom always said, “Angela, it’s so much easier to shop with you (compared to my sister)—you just get in, get what you want, and we get out!”

(Cause I know EXACTLY what I'm looking for)

Why You Struggle with Overscheduling

I was chatting with a client who’s been struggling with productivity and scheduling—just too many damn things to do??

So, this week, we’re dedicating our entire session to working through her priorities and then blocking out time accordingly.

If you are struggling with scheduling, chances are - you lack clear priorities.

What’s Your #1 Priority This Week?

Today is Monday.

What’s your #1 priority?

??Mine is giving an awesome workshop on Friday for Digital Divas Summit Innovation City Cape Town to help more amazing women find their way to the life they want. It’s an opportunity to meet like-minded leaders, build relationships, create opportunities, and practice my craft as a speaker. Everything else this week is scheduled around that goal. The prep time (presentation, practice) is a non-negotiable.

Everything else? It’s delayed until after.

??This makes scheduling SUPER EASY!

It takes 2 minutes to block out time for essential tasks.

I also have current clients to care for to the best of my ability—this is my ongoing work that’s always at the top of my list, just like sleep, good nutrition, exercise, and stress management.

For the rest of the time, it’s all about studying??

Everything else is a NO for this week.

(So you know my answer to any outings till the 24th)

5 Horizons of Focus to Get It All Done Without Overwhelm and Overscheduling

You can do it all in life - just not at the same time.

To create a schedule that allows you to achieve a lot without feeling overwhelmed, you have to start with what David Allen, creator of the world-famous “Getting Things Done” system, calls defining your horizons for work or focus:

  1. Purpose: What is it all for?
  2. Vision: What are we trying to create?
  3. Goals: What’s the short-term milestone we’re aiming for?
  4. Projects: What concrete steps are getting us there?
  5. Daily Actions: What’s on your schedule today to move those projects forward? (That’s where you start daily scheduling. See how much has to be defined prior?)

??It NEVER starts with today’s schedule if you want long-term success.

The you of today is just trying to survive, but that’s not enough to create a meaningful life journey for the 100-year-old masterpiece that you are.

Once you have your horizons figured out—and yes, it takes work—you won’t have any scheduling or overwhelm problems, at least not persistent ones.

Focus on What Matters Most ??

The next step is to focus obsessively on what leads you to your vision. Focus is key??, and we’ll chat about the science behind it—how biology, environment, and goals all play a role. That’s coming up next!??

For now, if you’re feeling overwhelmed, take a moment to reflect.

Do you have your horizons figured out???

Or are you still trying to squeeze everything into your schedule without a good filter or prioritization system???

Out and Over,

Angela,
