However, in recent years, Getresponse has changed its focus dramatically: the product is now more of an e-commerce and marketing solution than just an email marketing tool.

Getresponse has been around since 1998, and the company estimates that the platform is used by more than 350,000 people and businesses for their email marketing campaigns.
While this user base is not as large as some other email marketing tools (especially Mailchimp), it is large enough to provide confidence that the business is well established and unlikely to disappear. sometime soon.

How To USE GetResponse?
While GetResponse offers an extensive array of advanced email marketing tools, beginners might encounter a slightly steep learning curve. However, the platform provides ample support through its comprehensive knowledge base and round-the-clock chat service, helping users overcome this challenge.
The registration process is straightforward, requiring only your name, email address, and the creation of a password. To fully activate your account, you'll need to provide a legitimate business address and phone number.
Create a campaign
When creating your campaign, you'll need to choose between "drag and drop email editor" and "HTML source editor." The first is a WYSIWYG editor with drag-and-drop functionality and more than 200 available templates. The latter is exactly what it sounds like: the ability for more advanced users to encode their emails the way they want.
GetResponse's drag-and-drop editor offers users various options to create their emails. They can start with a blank template, import templates from zip files or webpages, design a plain text email, or opt for a custom template using GetResponse Designers (which may come with an additional cost).
Within the editor, users can easily fill in relevant fields like the message title, subject, and reply-to address. They also have the flexibility to choose tracking options, enable A/B testing, and configure the campaign for sharing through associated Facebook and Twitter accounts.
One standout feature is the mobile preview, allowing users to see how their personalized email will appear on mobile devices with interactive scrolling and landscape/portrait switching.
The platform offers a good selection of templates, organized into categories like restaurants, holidays, birthdays, online marketing, retail, e-commerce, and associations. Users can effortlessly drag and drop various elements such as text boxes and images into the editor to compose their emails. Previous limitations, such as the inability to wrap text, have been addressed and removed, enhancing the overall user experience.
GetResponse allows users to save items as snippets, enabling easy reuse in future projects. Additionally, the platform offers a valuable "History" feature that automatically saves each version of your work, providing a safety net to revert to previous versions in case of accidental deletions.
However, some users may find the layout interface unnecessarily complicated. Simple modifications, such as repositioning an item, can require multiple clicks and may cause unpredictable behavior, especially in complex layouts. For users with a solid grasp of HTML, the ability to access an HTML editor easily can be a helpful solution.
Send Email
Sending emails is a straightforward process. The platform offers a convenient inbox preview, allowing users to see how their emails will appear to recipients. Moreover, the spam checker ensures that emails avoid common spam triggers. Users can select the campaign (list) they wish to use and manage individual email addresses for their mailing list. The platform also allows users to schedule emails for later delivery if needed.
As with most email marketing services, you will need to confirm that all imported mail lists are permission-based and comply with your service provider's anti-spam policies. You can add lists in the following ways:
Users can also manually select or eliminate contacts from a particular mailing on an individual basis - a handy feature for small organizations with a limited mailing list.?
GetResponse Key FEATURES
In this unbiased review, I will delve into the primary features of GetResponse's email marketing platform.
Compared to its counterparts, GetResponse stands out with a unique and comprehensive set of market-leading features, even in its entry-level plan.
Beyond the standard email marketing tools like list hosting, templates, autoresponders, and analytics, GetResponse has gone the extra mile to evolve into an all-in-one marketing and e-commerce solution, consolidating various functionalities under one roof.
The crucial question is whether this diverse range of features makes GetResponse a "jack of all trades, but master of none."
Let's dive into its key features to find out the answer.
Autoresponder
Autoresponders are automated electronic newsletters sent to your subscribers at intervals determined by you.
For instance, you can set them up to perform the following actions:
GetResponse's answering machine functionality is a standout feature, offering one of the widest ranges of answering machine capabilities available.
With this feature, you can send messages based on time or specific user activities. Time-based options include cycles, as mentioned in the previous example. On the other hand, action-based messages can be triggered by various user actions or information, such as:
The versatility of GetResponse's answering machine features sets it apart as a key selling point, providing a powerful tool to engage with your subscribers based on their behavior and preferences.
Marketing Automation Tools
In addition to the basic "drip" style answering machines mentioned above, Getresponse offers a more sophisticated option for emails to be automatically queued. It's called "Marketing Automation" and is available as part of "Plus" or higher plans.
This feature allows you to create automation workflows using the drag-and-drop builder - you basically set up an "automation flowchart" that tells Getresponse what to do when a user opens a specific offer, clicks on a specific link, and more.
Getresponse Marketing Automation Tool - You can use drag and drop builder to create highly complex user journeys
The functionality offered here goes beyond what was traditionally available from answering machines and allows you to create a user-friendly trip that can be personalized to the nth grade.
GetResponse Email Templates
The situation with email templates in Getresponse changes slightly.
This is because a new version of Getresponse Email Creator is being introduced, and so two sets of templates are available: one for the old email creator and one for the new "BETA" version.
In terms of quality, the new models are much better than the old ones. There are about 100 available - less than some competing email marketing solutions (especially Aweber, which has about 700), but they are different in nature and the design is very modern (and changeable).
Email templates are grouped into a few categories that focus on key objectives (promotion, education, sales, etc.).
As for the 'old' models, there is a wider range - more than 500 - and they are presented in categories based on industry, but to be honest, I would probably avoid them. This is mainly because they tend to appear incorrectly in the latest version of Gmail for mobile devices.
If you're using an older template, be sure to check it carefully in Gmail for mobile before using it in your email campaign.
Responsive Email Designs
New and old Getresponse templates are responsive, which means they automatically adapt to the device on which your email newsletter is displayed - mobile, tablet, desktop, and more. A preview feature is available to see how each of your newsletters will appear.
However, as mentioned above, older models are a bit of a problem with the Gmail for mobile application.
?Analytic
Getresponse offers a wide range of analysis and reporting options. Of course, you get all the basics - open speed, clickthrough rate, finding speed, and more. - but in addition there are some very interesting reporting functions that deserve special mention, namely:
One-click segmentation ”: The ability to identify people who aren’t signed up for the email newsletter you send and place them in a subscriber segment that you can then resend using a different version of the email newsletter.
Mailchimp and Aweber offer similar reporting functionality - especially around sales tracking - but Getresponse's reporting tool is certainly one of the most comprehensive.
Web fonts in Getresponse
In the previous "old" GetResponse models, only standard "secure web fonts" like Arial, Times New Roman, Georgia, and Trebuchet were available. While this ensured consistent email display across various email programs, it could make email newsletters appear a bit mundane.
The good news is that the new email builder in GetResponse now offers an extensive array of web fonts, including a wide selection of Google fonts. In fact, GetResponse provides more font options than any competing tool I've tested so far. This variety of web fonts is particularly advantageous for users aiming to align their email campaigns with modern corporate branding, incorporating values and brand aesthetics.
However, it's essential to keep in mind that not all email programs support web fonts. To address this, GetResponse allows users to specify a "backup font" to ensure readability for recipients whose email programs don't support web fonts. For those that do support web fonts, emails created using the new GetResponse email builder have the potential to appear visually appealing and engaging.
Split Test
Regarding split testing, GetResponse's functionality in this area has traditionally been superior to that of many competitors. Users could test up to five different variations of newsletters, using subject, field, content, and time headers as variables. In contrast, other platforms typically allow for only two or three variants.
However, in the new GetResponse models, the functionality of split testing is currently limited to testing up to five report variants but only with different subject headers.
I reached out to the GetResponse support team to inquire if this limitation is likely to change, and it appears that the decision will depend on user demand. If enough users request this feature, it may be reintroduced or expanded in future updates.
Landing Page Builder
Using landing pages can significantly increase lead generation if they direct users to compelling "compressed pages" with clear information and well-designed data capture forms. GetResponse offers a valuable tool in this regard: the landing page builder, which is also mobile-friendly.
With the landing page builder, you can create compressed pages and monitor their conversion rates in real-time. This feature can positively impact potential purchases and enhance the effectiveness of your email campaigns. Similar products often require the use of third-party landing page builders, leading to additional costs, whereas GetResponse includes this functionality in all plans, providing significant savings compared to competitors like Unbounce and Instapage.
However, the landing page builder has some issues worth mentioning. The interface is not very intuitive and can be awkward to navigate. Additionally, creating separate desktop and mobile landing pages can be time-consuming, although it allows for better customization for different devices.
An important consideration is the use of analytics cookies on GetResponse landing pages, particularly concerning GDPR compliance. Currently, using certain cookies, like the Facebook pixel, may not fully comply with EU GDPR requirements, which necessitate a clear mechanism for users to enable or disable cookie usage. This is an area where GetResponse should address to ensure compliance for its users, especially those based in the EU.
The landing page feature in GetResponse is potentially useful, but it falls short in terms of interface usability and the lack of a proper cookie consent banner, which needs urgent attention.
Webinars Setup Easy
GetResponse recently introduced the capability to host webinars on its platform, which is an enticing addition as webinars are popular for lead generation and revenue generation. The advantage of having your email database and webinar tool in one place is appealing, especially considering the competitive pricing compared to established webinar solutions.
For instance, with GetResponse, you can achieve the same, if not more, functionality as other leading webinar platforms like Gotowebinar, but at a lower cost. While Gotowebinar charges $59 per month for hosting up to 100 attendees, GetResponse offers the same features, and even more, for just $49 per month.
GetResponse provides varying membership limits for webinars: the Plus plan allows up to 100 participants, the Professional plan allows up to 300, and the Business plan allows up to 500 participants. You can also add webinar features to the Basic plan for an additional cost, such as $40 per month for a 100-member limit or $99 per month for a 500-member limit.
However, there is a caveat. GetResponse states that these add-ons "may not be available" for users in North America. Therefore, North American Basic plan users would need to upgrade their entire account to access this feature.
Despite some past confusion with certain aspects of the GetResponse interface, the webinar functionality pleasantly surprised me. The interface and features for webinars are impressive and on par with other platforms I have used for online meetings and webinars.
Notable GetResponse webinar features include:
However, there are some limitations:
Despite these limitations, the webinar feature is a valuable addition to GetResponse's email marketing arsenal, providing a significant advantage over its main competitors.

The integration of mailing lists into the webinar delivery tool is seamless and of high quality.
Now, let's explore another unique GetResponse feature: "conversion funnels."
Unlock the Power of Internet Marketing Automation with GetResponse's Marketing Automation Platforms
GetResponse Review: Conversion Funnels Builder
Discover the Power of GetResponse Conversion Funnels: Your Ultimate Sales Funnel Software Solution
?GetResponse has recently unveiled a game-changing feature - "conversion funnels," making it a true product launch worth exploring.
This innovative feature takes email marketing platforms to the next level by providing a comprehensive solution to run an entire ecommerce business within the GetResponse environment.
With Conversion Funnels, you can effortlessly handle various crucial aspects without leaving the platform:
As the name implies, GetResponse aims to streamline the process of building sales funnels without the need for additional external apps. A wide selection of templates is available to assist you in this endeavor.
This incredible feature is accessible in all plans, although it's essential to note that the Basic plan allows only one funnel creation and excludes the use of the Abandoned Cart Recovery feature (which automatically sends emails to potential customers who left items in their cart without completing the purchase).
Furthermore, you have the option to integrate with third-party platforms, such as Shopify, Bigcommerce, and Etsy, to expand your ecommerce capabilities.
While Conversion Funnels present an excellent opportunity for solopreneurs and small businesses to create all-in-one sales funnels that effectively convert subscribers into customers, larger merchants with extensive product catalogs and complex ecommerce needs may find dedicated platforms like Bigcommerce or Shopify more suitable for their specific requirements.
GetResponse Conversion Funnels offer a powerful solution for streamlining sales funnel creation, making it a valuable asset for businesses looking to maximize their online marketing automation and ecommerce potential."
App and Integrations
If you want to integrate Getresponse with another platform or tool, about 140 integrations will help you do that. some examples below
You can use them to connect Getresponse to popular e-commerce solutions and content management systems, including Shopify and WordPress, as well as some CRM systems such as Capsule and Highrise.
There are also many useful Google integrations that allow you to import your Gmail contact list; Add Google Analytics tags to your email campaign. and link your landing pages to Google Ads in a way that helps you better evaluate the effectiveness of your PPC campaigns.
Many of these integrations are "official" out-of-the-box Getresponse integrations, but you should note that many use a third-party tool, such as Zapier, for login purposes. (This may incur additional costs.)
Another way to integrate Getresponse with another system - assuming you have development skills - is to use its API (Application Programming Interface). It allows you to send and receive data to and from Getresponse in a way that suits your application.
Data Management and Deliverability
You can use two methods to add subscribers to your mailing list: you can use the "select once" or "double select" process.
If you use the one-time registration process, the person who registers will be added to your mailing list when you click the Submit button on your registration form.
After the double-selection process, the person signing up for your list will receive an email with a confirmation link that he / she must click before subscribing.
One of the main advantages of the selection process is that it is very easy for users to subscribe to your mailing list; it also usually increases the conversion rate and therefore the number of subscribers to your list.
A double selection process is best to make sure that the people who sign up for your list use real email addresses and provide cleaner information and more accurate statistics (because open rates, etc. are calculated based on a list of only real email addresses). ). However, it can also reduce the number of leads you attract and the effectiveness of your email campaign.
Now the good news is that Getresponse allows you to use any of the approaches you choose - not all competing products do. So thank you Getresponse for the flexibility.
Lead Capture and Forms
There are two ways to use forms in Getresponse: you can either add an HTML form that you style yourself, or design your form in Getresponse (choosing from a decent range of templates and tailoring them to your design. site).
If you go the latter route, you can add the form to your site using a JavaScript snippet to display your form; this form can be presented in a range of different formats (eg online, pop-up or slide-up).
You can use both HTML forms and javascript forms to capture data into standard Getresponse fields or, if you prefer, fill in custom fields.
These javascript forms are pretty good. You can create desktop and mobile versions, and you can use a reasonable range of web fonts when styling them. You can also activate a CAPTCHA spam blocking feature, which helps prevent false registrations.
Significantly, however, no control is offered by Getresponse to enable or disable pop-up forms on particular devices or individual pages of your site. Given Google's approach to smartphone pop-ups (where sites can take a hit in search results if they display `` intrusive interstitials '' on mobile devices), this is a little worrying.
A workaround is to connect Getresponse to a growth hacker tool - there are a number of them (Sumo or Privvy being well known examples). This allows you to turn off pop-ups for mobile users, as well as style forms, and control which pages they appear on. But this is not ideal, because it involves an additional cost.
Of course, if you integrate Getresponse with a CMS and use a forms package, you might not find this a problem - WordPress users could, for example, plug in a tool like Gravity Forms (which gives you a lot of control. on the appearance of the form) to Getresponse via its API.
Data Segmentation Options
One of the things I like most about Getresponse is the way you can send emails to multiple subscriber segments at once (or even exclude multiple segments). This is not the case with some of Getresponse's main competitors, especially Mailchimp and Aweber.
For example, suppose Getresponse has a list of subscribers that you have divided into four segments:
- Segment A
- Segment B
- Segment C
- Segment D
With Getresponse, it's very easy to send messages to segments A, B and C at the same time (just check the three appropriate boxes). You can also send a message to segments B and C and turn off segment D.
Not only can you send / exclude multiple segments at once, but you can do the same with separate lists - for example, if Getresponse had three separate mailing lists, you can send messages to people in three.
This kind of flexibility sets Getresponse apart from the competition and allows you to truly personalize your email campaign audience to the nth level - similar to the products I've reviewed so far, only Campaign Monitor offers a similar level of flexibility. (and one with a much higher price).
This flexibility is probably one of the main arguments in favor of using Getresponse over the main competitor Mailchimp, which does not open up additional segmentation features unless you are participating in an extremely expensive plan. '' Mailchimp Premium ''.
Email Deliverability
When choosing an email marketing tool, the email deliverability rate – which indicates the percentage of email newsletters successfully reaching subscribers' inboxes – holds significant importance.
While not all email marketing providers openly disclose their delivery rates, GetResponse stands out by providing transparent insights into their delivery levels on their website:
"At GetResponse, we are often asked about the quality of our delivery level. Because delivery depends on many factors, including the content of your messages, the delivery speed may vary for each shipment. Together, all of our customers are proud to say that our overall delivery rate is currently 99%."
Assuming the accuracy of this statement, a 99% delivery rate is a notable achievement, fostering confidence that the majority of emails sent through GetResponse's marketing campaigns will successfully reach their intended recipients.
Moreover, GetResponse takes transparency a step further by providing the delivery rate for each individual email within the email analysis, a feature uncommon among competitor product metrics. This transparency not only offers valuable insights but also serves as a motivation for users.
Additionally, GetResponse offers custom DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) authentication across all their plans. This security measure enhances the trustworthiness of email senders and recipients, contributing to an improved overall delivery rate.
In summary, GetResponse's focus on email deliverability, coupled with transparent reporting and enhanced security measures like custom DKIM, underscores their commitment to ensuring successful email campaign delivery.
GDPR Compliance
With the advent of the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), email marketing has become more intricate due to stricter consent rules and requirements for recording such consent.
GetResponse should be commended for providing users with clear guidance on their GDPR responsibilities, making specific aspects of compliance and consent recording easier to navigate.
However, an area where GetResponse could improve its GDPR compliance is in authentication. Unlike Mailchimp, a competing platform, GetResponse lacks two-factor authentication during the sign-in process. Given the significance of data security in the context of GDPR, incorporating this feature would be highly beneficial.
Furthermore, as mentioned earlier, the landing page functionality isn't fully GDPR compliant when planning to use a Facebook pixel alongside it.
In summary, while GetResponse offers the capability to capture data in a GDPR compliant manner, there is room for further enhancement.
Ease of Use and Interface
Using GetResponse is generally straightforward. The interface has recently undergone a redesign and now boasts a cleaner, more intuitive design.
Performing fundamental tasks with GetResponse is quite manageable. This includes importing contacts, creating email campaigns, setting up autoresponders, and analyzing statistics. Particularly noteworthy is the excellent segment management.
The learning curve for GetResponse's advanced features, such as marketing automation tools, is also relatively gentle.
However, the design of GetResponse's form and landing page tools might benefit from minor improvements, as they don't experience the same level of enhancement as other product features. Enhancing their user-friendliness could further elevate the user experience.
When comparing GetResponse's interface to its competition, Campaign Monitor offers a more user-friendly experience, while Mailchimp's interface presents a cleaner design. In terms of appearance and usability, Aweber's interface is likely the closest.
Regarding GetResponse's email editor, a historically challenging component, the new version of Email Content Builder has improved significantly. It features a cleaner, more intuitive drag-and-drop interface, stability, and user-friendliness. Although it may not rival some competing apps, it certainly stands as an acceptable option.
One feature currently missing in the new email editor, but reportedly in development, is the ability to define "global" text styles. This would allow users to set consistent font styles for headers, body copy, and more, streamlining the formatting process.
GetResponse Customer Support
GetResponse offers various support options. Personal assistance is available through email and live chat, while phone support is unfortunately not provided. GetResponse also offers an extensive array of resources, including videos, infographics, and video courses, empowering users to navigate the software independently.
Here are the available support options provided by GetResponse:
Various testimonials concerning the quality of GetResponse's customer service are available. While some users have reported positive support experiences, others mention slow or absent responses. The introduction of phone support could potentially mitigate certain support-related issues.
In conclusion, GetResponse offers a range of support options to cater to user needs, though the addition of phone support would likely enhance the overall experience.

Shortcomings in GetResponse
Certain users have voiced concerns about the limitations of the GetResponse Template Builder interface and the outdated nature of default templates. Additionally, GetResponse doesn't offer a free plan tailored to beginner email marketers, unlike services such as MailChimp. Nevertheless, its free trial encompasses an impressive capacity of 1,000 contacts, which exceeds the offerings of many other email marketing companies.
Hardware and Software Requirements
GetResponse is compatible with both PC and Mac operating systems and supports the most recent official versions of the following web browsers:
To ensure optimal performance, it's crucial to keep your browsers updated, as outdated versions may encounter difficulties with the platform's editors and other functionalities. Enabling JavaScript, Flash technology, and "cookie" plugins may also be necessary.
User Experiences and Ratings in the GetResponse Review
This section provides insights into the perspective of an everyday user regarding this comprehensive email marketing platform with an intuitive interface and advanced marketing capabilities.
Unfortunately, a thorough examination of consumer review platforms has unveiled significant concerns related to GetResponse, warranting a note of caution. Notably, we've come across instances where customers attempting to log out have encountered challenges in account cancellation, billing discrepancies, and customer service issues. Consequently, we have downgraded the rating for this aspect.
GetResponse garners a mixed assortment of reviews at best. It's important to note that GetResponse's listing on the Better Business Bureau, along with its associated website, is linked to its parent company Implix, USA, Inc. Additionally, this company holds an address in Poland as indicated by the BBB records.
Negative Reviews and Complaints
The most common complaints in GetResponse reviews are the following:
Positive Reviews and Testimonials
While there are definitely some complaints about GetResponse redirects, we've also found appreciation for this email marketing software, believe it or not!
Ease of use: This is the most common point of praise in GetResponse reviews. Many people like the interface, and the program is easy to navigate, even if they have no previous email marketing experience. Drag and drop editor is a popular feature.
Automation: Users like GetResponse's automation features. Many say that these features save them time.
Email Templates: New users especially like GetResponse email templates, and they have a fairly generous library. These templates are easily customizable using the drag-and-drop editor.
Support: While I've seen many complaints about GetResponse customer support, I've also seen positive feedback. Some users say that GetResponse has a strong customer support team. Users of an enterprise-level plan especially appreciate having a dedicated account manager. It seems that as long as you want to keep GetResponse as your email software, you will find support to help you with your campaigns.
SECURITY
GetResponse runs regular network security updates, strong firewalls, and 24/7/365 monitoring of all corporate servers. The company processes and stores credit card data using bank-level encryption on a PCI compliant network. User data is backed up daily on multiple servers for complete data redundancy.
For more information, see the GetResponse security page.
Regarding privacy, GetResponse is trusted by TRUSTe.
Anti-spam Policy and Protection
GetResponse is a comprehensive anti-spam system to maintain its high level of delivery. By registering, you must confirm that your list is authorization-based and meets the company's anti-spam standards. Each time you add a new contact to the list, you'll need to select the check box to indicate that you obtained the new address legally.
GetResponse is an internal abuse tool for Hydra. Hydra conducts complaints, bounce rates, and subscription source tests to ensure that users continue to comply with their anti-spam policies. Hydra can also identify aspects of users' campaigns that could damage their reputation or executability.
All accounts include a Spam Score, a feature that displays your SpamAssassin test results. You can see what email providers might be causing your message to be spammed; hopefully you'll be able to spot potential problems before they occur.
GetResponse Review: Final Verdict
Thanks for reading my complete review, GetResponse stands out by offering products that combine functionality and user-friendliness, surpassing many other newsletter tools. Particularly noteworthy are its impressive automation mechanisms for list management, as well as its flexible and intuitive automation workflows.
Although its editor may present some challenges for certain tasks, the responsive templates are well-designed and effective for creating valuable content. Moreover, the availability of iOS and Android apps allows you not only to track progress but also to send newsletters on the go.
With an extensive array of powerful features like landing pages and webinars, along with the recent addition of the Autofunnel feature, GetResponse excels in multiple aspects. While there's room for improvement in delivery rates, GetResponse performs exceptionally well in most other areas.
Regardless of whether you're a small business owner, a marketer, or an entrepreneur, GetResponse provides a comprehensive toolkit to efficiently oversee email marketing campaigns, streamline processes, and connect with your target audience. The amalgamation of its diverse features, user-friendly interface, and customizable choices positions it as a formidable player within the highly competitive landscape of email marketing platforms.
