Get yourself a qualified mentor
Erik Hupjé
Escape the vicious cycle of reactive maintenance: less downtime, less work, lower costs and less stress
Everyone makes mistakes.?
Right??
It even happens to the best of us.?
Your boss.?
The CEO of your company.?
Your spouse.?
So don’t be too hard on yourself when you make a mistake.?
Remember, mistakes are opportunities for growth and improvement.?
But to really *learn* from mistakes, you need to actively reflect on them.?
Process them.?
?
So, you can do better next time.?
The more you reflect on your mistakes, the better you get.?
That is continuous improvement.?
?
It’s even listed in one of the 9 principles of modern preventive maintenance.?
Overtime, these incremental improvements allow individuals and organizations to strive for better performance.?
Now, I have always been an advocate of continuous improvement.?
In fact, I teach continuous improvement inside my courses.?
But...?
… you can’t go and make all the mistakes others have already made and then call it “continuous improvement”, right??Not only would it take forever, you are not really improving things, you are making the same mistakes again!?
?
So, we need to learn from others. By studying the mistakes of those who have gone before us, we can avoid making the same errors and instead focus on finding success.?

And to expedite this process,?you need to learn from qualified mentors.?
People who have years of real, hands-on experience.?People who have made plenty of mistakes, who have learned what works and what doesn’t.?
?
People who how to make the biggest impact with the least amount of effort and resources.?If you are lucky enough to have people like that in your environment, then make sure you listen and learn!??
Their experience is worth gold.?But if you don’t, then you can tap into that kind of experience by enrolling in high-quality training.??
