Get your team working for you!

Get your team working for you!

Have you thought about getting yourself or your team more efficient?

Have you looked at what skills your team has?

I mean really looked.

I don't just take a peek at their CV and make a load of assumptions about their skills, but looking at what your team can do.

When I started my last full-time job, I arrived having just changed careers, with a high level of experience in accountancy, a vast skill set of team management and development.

But my first job was stuffing envelopes!!

Fortunately, I was given quick opportunities and progressed fast.

But nobody went back to my CV until I had moved up to a senior position, in a different department, and already gained a reputation.

They were then surprised to find what I had previously accomplished.

So when you think about getting the most out of your business. Don't overlook your current team.

A LEAN team will ensure that all team members can contribute. They will share their experience of the customer journey.

The call script that doesn't work, the process that causes someone to have to press "enter" ten times and wait for a screen to load, the door that opens the wrong way and annoys people.

If you are a sole trader and do all of this yourself, you will know your business inside out.

But if you employ people, you probably don't know all of this stuff unless you micro-manage. And then you will suffer from high staff turnover.

So when you think of gaining efficiencies, first look within your team.

If you work for yourself and you're the CEO and the cleaner, look at your processes. Are you as efficient as you can be? Are you focusing on the right things that have maximum benefit to you and your business?

What processes do you have in place to ensure you and or your team stay on track?

Using our processes, you can quickly identify what is truly important in your business.

What is going to have the most significant impact?

What you really should be focussed on.

Stuffing envelopes must be a rite of passage to greater things. As I’ve also done it, lol.

We’ve all stuffed envelopes at times. I started my working life cleaning out the chip pan in the pub next door!!

This is really important. I spent years in corporate bemused by the amount of talent that people overlooked. I got a reputation for having this aptitude for making people better. And spent a lot of time trying to politely explain that much of the talent was pre-existing but unnoticed!

You've clearly got a lot of experience building teams....can't believe they made you stuff envelopes....it's a shame they did not know about your talents and experience a lot earlier...I assume this is one of the benefits of using you....to make sure firms are aware of the talent they ALREADY have....
