Get in your “feels” about your business!

I had a recent conversation with my grown son. He asked if I considered getting married. I hastily answered a resounding no. I knew he was coming from a place of concern. I laughed it off saying the current state of the dating pool left a lot to be desired. That night I had a dream that I was in a whirlwind romance and that I was getting married. I woke up remembering the feeling of being in love. The emotions were almost palatable, the sentiments so real.

Now you are wondering what this has to do with business. I hope that most entrepreneurs not “business owners” are following our purpose and our passion for making a difference in the world. We were zestful when we first launched and set out with boundless enthusiasm. Along the way, you may have what is referred to as head down in the day-to-day running of the business and find yourself a long way from the initial glee you had when you began. In short, you got out of your” feels”.

?

I bet you can name 10 reasons you justify your current state of mind. I want you to understand the only thing that has changed is your state of mind. Now you are shaking your head and may disagree with me and that is perfectly fine. Now here is where my dream comes in. I was dismissing marriage because of a list of valid reasons based on true life experiences. I had forgotten about the good parts and framed my attitude around my negative emotions. By doing that I revoked permission for Love to show up. In our business, we can do the same thing. I want you to take time today and remember the reasons you started your entrepreneurial journey. Get in your “feels” about your business!
