Welcome to the first issue of the monthly Wired For Success Newsletter!
Each month I'll be sharing 3 highlights of the month from the science, self-development & entrepreneurship categories. Expect an eclectic mix of profound mindset shifts and big ideas, high-performance habits, fun facts, helpful resources, and wisdom from my wonderful podcast guests.
As you might know, on my Wired For Success Podcast we talk about all things science, self-development & entrepreneurship that help ambitious, mission-driven entrepreneurs build million-dollar businesses without sacrificing their health, relationships, or happiness.
So in this newsletter, you can expect a mix of inspiration, motivation, and actionable tips that you can implement straight away to get to that next level of success in your life & business.
Here are my 3 highlights for this month:
1. Mindset/Perspective: Your story is the key to the right strategy
Have you ever wondered why so many people can apply the exact same strategy and yet get vastly different results?
Here's the thing: We aren't blank slates. We all have a unique story. This story in our heads (our narrative) is a result of our beliefs, experiences, and expectations, and it influences our decisions, how we show up to a challenge, and what actions we take.
Here's an example: Let's say two new entrepreneurs watch a webinar about social selling as a strategy to generate more sales in their business. Both decide to model what works well for others and start using the same strategy.
Person #1 LOVES this approach and is excited about reaching out to new people every day and enjoys having conversations. She's motivated, finds it easy to take action, enjoys the process, and sees great results.
Person #2 HATES this approach because it feels salesy and sleazy to her but she decided to do it anyway because it seems to work so well for others. Every day she dreads reaching out to new people. She fears rejection and judgment and gets disappointed and disheartened by every person who doesn't respond or doesn't respond in the way she was hoping for. Doubt creeps in and the dialogue inside her head goes something like this: "What's wrong with me? Why is this working for everyone else but me? Why can't I figure this out?". She finds herself procrastinating more and more, and finally, she gives up or gets sick...
The problem is not that the strategy is bad. The problem is not that person #2 is flawed. The problem is that there's a mismatch between the story in the head ("this is sales and annoying") and the strategy.
That's what misalignment looks like. It drains your energy, crushes your spirit, and makes you doubt yourself.
When you find yourself in a misalignment, you can either change your story or change your strategy to get back into alignment.
Remember: Your story is the key to finding the right strategy that works for YOU!
2. High-Performance Habit/Supplement: Omega-3
*Disclaimer: I'm not a doctor and my content is for informational or educational purposes only. It does not substitute professional medical advice or consultations with healthcare professionals.*
I'm not a huge advocate for supplements in general. When it comes to diet, I usually try to get all my nutrients from the food I eat. My favorite multivitamin is fruit salad. And I think it's never a good idea to try to excuse/counterbalance a poor diet by adding a ton of supplements.
That said, I'm also someone who loves to experiment and I acknowledge that based on your lifestyle and diet choices it can sometimes be tricky to get all your nutrients from your food.
For example, I don't eat a lot of fish and that's why I started taking a high-quality fish oil supplement as a source of Omega-3 fatty acids a few months ago.
Here's why: Omega-3 fatty acids are essential fats - meaning the body can't make them and we have to get them from the food we eat. They are an integral part of our cell membranes and have been shown to help prevent heart disease, improve depression, and lower inflammation (more info + links to studies here).
There are 3 main forms of Omega-3 fatty acids:
ALA = Alpha-linolenic acid
EPA = Eicosapentaenoic acid
DHA = Docosahexaenoic acid

Natural sources of Omega-3 include fish, seeds, and nuts. Fish and seafood are among the richest sources of Omega-3 and if you don't eat fish or seafood at least 1-2x per week, it can be challenging to get enough of those healthy fats. Especially because plant sources mostly contain ALA, not EPA and DHA (which are mostly found in fish and seafood).
Symptoms of an Omega-3 deficiency include fatigue, poor memory, dry skin & hair, mood swings, and/or poor circulation.
My protocol: 1 capsule of premium fish oil supplement (800mg Omega-3 in triglyceride form, 400mg EPA, and 300mg DHA) with a big glass of water and a cup of coffee with a teaspoon of coconut oil first thing in the morning (Omega-3 fatty acids are best absorbed in the presence of other fats).
The main thing I noticed was that my skin and hair improved noticeably within a couple of weeks of adding this fish oil supplement to my diet. I also think that my mood is more stable now and I'm less tired.
So if you suspect that you might have an Omega-3 deficiency too, talk to your doctor about adding a high-quality fish oil supplement to your diet.
I know that there are a ton of different fish oil supplements out there and it can be a little overwhelming to find a good one. You can check out the one that I'm using, or if you prefer to find another one, make sure you
Extra tip: Keep your Omega-3 supplement in the fridge to slow down oxidation.
“I personally think [omega-3 fish oil] is one of the most powerful anti-inflammatory things, dietary lifestyle things we can get easily that is going to powerfully modulate the way you think, the way you feel, and the way you age.” – Rhonda Patrick, Ph.D.
3. Podcasting/Resource: Minimalist Podcast Marketing Method - Free workshop
The last highlight I would like to share with you today is the free workshop my friend Jeremy Enns ???? from the Podcast Marketing Academy is hosting next week.
Jeremy is one of the most knowledgeable people I know when it comes to podcast marketing and growth and he’s built this workshop to help podcasters and business owners like you streamline your podcast marketing system to get better results with less exhaustion, overwhelm, and effort.
And while he’s consulted with some of the biggest brands and creators in the world to help them grow their shows, he spends most of his time working with small & scrappy indie creators, networks, and startups who are producing and marketing their shows themselves with limited time and budget.
In this workshop, Jeremy is going to share how just a few small marketing habits can lead to big, long-term, sustainable growth.
His goal with the Minimalist Podcast Marketing Method is to help you develop a marketing practice you can complete in 30 minutes or less every day that will grow your show consistently for years to come.
Even better, it doesn’t depend on constantly-changing social platforms, short-term trends, or expensive tools.
The workshop is spread across 3 days, from September 27-29.
Each day will feature:
You'll also have access to the replays for a few days after the workshop ends, so even if you can't make it to the live calls, you can still take advantage of the workshop.?
