Get Well Soon!

Get Well Soon!

“Health is a state of complete harmony of the body, mind and spirit. When one is free from physical disabilities and mental distractions, the gates of the soul open.” –?B.K.S. Iyengar

Health is an interesting topic to discuss and people see this as a taboo and generally ignore it. So, today I have decided to make this cliche topic into the limelight as we are in the festive season, most of us will start thinking about health benefits now and will ignore the whole year. Well, let me tell you maintaining health is for a lifetime and not on a daily basis, that is why it is called healthy habits and not a healthy day.

Physical health has the benefits of mental health, I think we know that. Then why am I repeating that ?? Well, this is what made us not think further. When we stop asking the right questions we stop thinking forward. For those who left the article here, I have one word to say, "Get Well Soon"

“To keep the body in good health is a duty, otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.” –?Buddha

As an evolution process, we became good at thinking but our DNA still stores the information of the past. Don't believe me, just think of the times when you were hungry and wanted food, and when you got your food to eat, you kept on eating still when your stomach was full. Why did this happen? Because when our ancestors found something to eat after a long hour of hunting they grab as much as they can to make themselves full, thinking of how much wait might have to do for the next meal.

Now let's look into a few benefits of exercise here, having healthy habits including some parts of daily exercise:

1) exercise impacts brain functioning

2) exercise helps you recover

3) exercise helps you sleep better

4) exercise helps you cope with negative feelings

5) exercise help prevent anxiety

6) exercise help prevent depression

7) exercise help build muscles

8) exercise improves memory

“Lack of activity destroys the good condition of every human being, while movement and methodical physical exercise save it and preserve it.” –?Plato

It is well-established that exercise has numerous benefits for overall health, but did you know that it also impacts brain functioning? A growing body of research has shown that exercise can improve cognition, memory, and executive function.

So how does exercise impact brain functioning? One theory is that exercise increases blood flow to the brain, which provides the brain with the nutrients it needs to function at its best. Exercise has also been shown to increase the production of neurotrophic factors, which help to protect and improve brain function.

If you want to improve your brain function, start making exercise a part of your daily routine. Even a small amount of exercise can have a positive impact on your cognitive health.

According to a Harvard study:

  • Engaging in exercise diverts you from the very thing you are anxious about.
  • Moving your body decreases muscle tension, lowering the body’s contribution to feeling anxious.
  • Getting your heart rate up changes brain chemistry, increasing the availability of important anti-anxiety neurochemicals, including serotonin, gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), and endocannabinoids.
  • Exercise activates frontal regions of the brain responsible for executive function, which helps control the amygdala, our reacting system to real or imagined threats to our survival.
  • Exercising regularly builds up resources that bolster resilience against stormy emotions.

“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.” –?Jim Rohn

Let me tell you a story about an individual. At a young age, we never think about maintaining ourselves and keep o eating whatever is kept in front of us but that becomes a habit in long term. Most of us might be relating to it because we are all human beings who keep on doing repeated behaviors all over again.

So after many days of the same habit he kept on intaking oily items that were present on the menu wherever possible and since he was staying alone, nobody was there to watch out and he was not careful. Now his liver got swollen up and with increasing pain, he cannot even stand on one side. He is lying on the bed thinking of those days when he had a chance to improve but he didn't.

Now only line comes from his mouth that from now onwards I will track everything and will become fit. I have only one thing to say "Get Well Soon"

Exercise is not just good for your physical body, it's good for your mental and emotional well-being as well.
