It's easy to look at what other people are doing and think what if... or well they had (add in myriad things you didn't have - from two supportive parents, university degree, the list of plausible excuses is endless). So what...
Let's get harsh here... you get out what you put in. You decide what you want and you take a step towards it and then another... then keep going. Your route may be take a while or take twists and turns but if you have a plan and keep doing something you will get an outcome.
Upbringing and those around you will have a bearing in the early years and whatever happens en route will colour your journey but plenty of people have success who start from less than favourable positions. They just want it more.
Oprah Winfrey came from a poor family and in a whole different world she was disadvantaged by her colour... that didn't stop her
Howard Shultz grew up in a poor housing estate - and went on to found Starbucks...
Ralph Lauren was a clerk at Brooks Brothers...
George Soros survived a Nazi invasion in Hungary and was a penniless student...
Roman Abramovich was orphaned at 2...
These are people you have probably heard of... every one of them is in the billionaire bracket now. There are many millions more who have gone to do something better for themselves and their life. They took a risk, they chose to change something and then they took the first step...
Luck always has a bearing but putting yourself in the right place at the right time... more of the time will help luck on it's way. What do you actually want (this is the hard one) and who are the people involved in that world? Make sure you are at least in the arena.
Fear of failure is a huge problem... so what - what others think of you is really none of your business... what you think, want and choose to do are yours. Take the first step in your plan, your world and your future.
If what you want requires a skill or qualification - check out what is necessary. Working too many hours to do it? What are you doing that you can stop to accommodate it. You can find myriad reasons for NOT doing something but you only need one to get started.
You do have to focus on what you actually want - is it more time with your family? So you need to do more in less time... what does that look like? Is it buy a bigger house? How will that happen and what do you need to achieve it? Is it have a holiday? If it is money stopping you you need to earn more - what do you need to do that? Is it get fitter? What will that take?
Your journey is personal as is your beginnings and reason for doing something. If you really want something you will find a way but you need to take the first step... breathe in... and close your eyes.... where are you.... who with..... doing?
Go for it... once step at a time....you'd be surprised at what you can do when you really want something enough.
