Get Settled

Get Settled

It’s been such a whirlwind – and it’s not over. But, I have left my hometown and moved south. Last week was so tough. Packing up over 40 years of life and moving to a much smaller home seven hours away is a challenge, and to be leaving my mama and family makes it an emotional challenge too. Because it’s been such a huge undertaking, we have stuff left to do. I hate leaving it in the hands of others and feeling like I’m not giving the best possible options gives away power from me but seven hours is too far for just stopping by to meet a landscaper or paint a room. Put on top of that two cats who don’t like traveling puts pressures on the move that I spent more than the week dreading. So I’ll try to look at this as growing.

I’m letting go of control. I’m leaving things for three weeks when I return for the “last” time to gather the last of our lives in Georgia (and leave the cats in their new home which they LOVE). ?I’m getting settled in a new location where I have to use GPS to run to the CVS. And next week I start a new job. So the question is – did I meet my moving vision? I’d say yes. The next trip is clean up not moving. We’re living in Florida now. And frankly I have to move again in a year because we’re just renting now.

Give me a week and I’ll be fully set up in Cocoa. I guess that’s my next checklist:

·???????Transfer Mail???????????????????DONE

·???????Set up Internet????????????????? DONE

·???????Set up Cable?????????????????????Ordered

·???????Move in Rooms???????????????Halfway Complete

·???????Remember where everything is now

·???????Start job

·???????Participate in AU Club

·???????See Hallie

·???????Make list of next To Do

Man I know I’m missing stuff, but I’m feeling pretty good about this change. I’ve even seen a rocket launch – once we figured out the direction to look. It’s so cool! Maybe I’ll be bored again sometime. It’s amazing how being busy can make you tired but excited all at the same time. In the meantime, I’ve just got to get settled.?

Good luck, Laura! I've moved several times and it requires a lot of energy and organization.
