GET IT RIGHT

GET IT RIGHT

The biggest congratulations in life comes after the successful completion of that enormous project that was tagged impossible, undo-able, and draining. During my days as a Software Engineering Trainee, we were guided to a project called?doing the hard things,?this concept about life really shaped my mindset. I am no longer afraid of doing odd things because i believe in the reward ahead.

Get it right

Notwithstanding the task we were bombarded with during our training days, one factor helped ME prevailed, the factor of?time management.?If you Get it right, you'll end up working smarter, not harder, to get more done in less time – even when time is tight and pressures are high. The highest achievers manage their time exceptionally well

Introducing the 4Ds in time management:

The 4 Ds are:

Do

Defer (Delay)

Delegate

Delete (Drop).

The 4 Ds of time management process was orginally outlined in the book,?The Power of Focus, written by Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen, and Les Hewitt. They propose this approach to separate fake-urgent tasks from highly important ones to regain time control.

Do

  • Do?is as straightforward as it gets, start working on these tasks immediately and focus attention on them one at a time until they get them done.

Defer

  • Defer?can be used to postpone tasks that are not-time sensitive. Whether it is a new request or a project with an extended deadline, work that can be postponed in favor of immediate priorities should be.

Delegate

  • Delegate?should include tasks that do not require the specific know-how of an individual. Reassigning work is one of the most efficient strategies of time management, as long as the new person-responsible has the required skills to fulfill the requirement.

Delete

  • Delete?encourages individuals to learn to say “no” and carefully filter their to-do list. People should delete clutter work such as junk mails and non-vital meetings to make room for core matters.

Placing a task or project into one of these categories helps you manage your limited time more effectively and stay focused on what matters most to you.
