We hadn’t played music together in 12 months.
That is frustrating for a local classic rock band.
On a recent Saturday we would be together to practice our playlist.
GREAT!
On the 3rd song after 20 seconds our lead guitarist stopped playing and said I was playing the wrong cords for that song.
Interesting as I had played that song over 100 times and no one spoke out about it before.
Ok, I listened to their advice and switched the cords I was playing.
In the next 20 seconds as I listened to the words of the song, it hit me.
We had been playing two different songs.
We were on different pages.
I quickly started playing the song they were playing, and the other guitarists all smiled at me.
I got it right.
At the end of the song, I asked the lead guitarist what song we just finished.
He laughed, yes, he said one song and played a different song and the other guitarist picked up on it and I didn’t.
How about you and your customers.
They ever tell you they will think about it.
But they don’t.
Your customers don’t care what page you are on.
They only care about what page they are on.
Are you concentrating on the message they are sending you?
Being aware of the words they use, tone of voice, what their needs are they keep repeating to you?
If they say they will get back to you, they probably won’t.
They don’t hear you.
You're playing different songs.
You’re not on the same page.
