If you aren't a regular Reddit user, I get how it can be intimidating.

The platform doesn't exactly 'hold your hand' if you're a newbie. It looks like a big series of unrelated memes and mini-blogs in an endless scroll.

Which...you know...it is.

Although few social media experts mention Reddit in the same breath as YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, or even Pinterest, it has 1.2 billion monthly active users curating the best content on the internet, segmented into smaller boards called 'subreddits.'

That's insanely valuable for content discovery.

If you do it right.

If you're new to Reddit, follow these three steps to find the perfect audience for your content.

?? Find where your ideal audience gathers

For example, if you're a baseball card creator, see which subreddit talks about baseball cards. It looks like there's a group literally called r/baseballcards with 142k members. Those are 142k potential superfans of your content! And there are groups on Reddit for dang near anything, especially if you're making content around verticals that have deep fandom like video games, pop culture, anime, etc.

Don't sleep on those smaller groups!

?? Add value

Don't just jump into a community and start embedding your content. Nobody likes a spammer. Instead, start commenting, upvoting, following people, and chatting with other members about things that interest you. Show how much you care about building and participating in the community! You may notice that Reddit is a bit more 'tell it like it is' than other online communities, but don't be intimidated. Most subreddits aren't afraid of gentle (or not so gentle) teasing.

?? When You're 'In', Start Introducing Your Content

You can start sharing your content through messages quickly (when it comes up organically) but in the feed, make sure it's content that fits the culture of the subreddit and has something to actually add to the conversation. Never do this before you've put up at least 50 posts/comments in the subreddit over the course of at least a week. If your content doesn't make sense in a group, find another group. For example, the r/baseballcard subreddit is almost entirely pictures. If you start blasting videos into the feed, it won't make sense. And make sure your post text focuses on why it's valuable. Don't just post a video. Give it context. Example: "The most most expensive baseball card I bought this year..." then tell a bit of the story.

From there, you can start having real fun! The more respected you are in the subreddit, the more supported you'll be when asking for actions for your social media channels.

My mission for you: find a subreddit that matches your content.

You don't have to post right away. Just read through the first 20 posts and ask yourself: could this eventually be a way to get other passionate people to support my content?

If it is, it may be time to dedicate a few minutes per day building your Reddit presence!

That took 2 minutes. You have 8 minutes left. Go find your subreddit and grow 1% right now!

Brands and creators: crush bots with my sponsor EarnOS!

Tap the pic to get started!

How are creators of any size getting paid and getting their audience paid by Uber, Sunglass Hut, and Baskin Robbins?

And how are those brands getting assured, validated non-bots to engage with their brand?

The answer to both is EarnOS, a platform that uses first-party validation techniques to ensure that every like, newsletter follower and video view is real.

And pays creators handsomely to help with this mission, to the tune of $3m to date.

I just watched a trend blow up on TikTok that had already made waves on Reddit weeks ago, which is a perfect example of how Reddit still sits at the top of the content pipeline for original ideas. Tons of podcasts rely on AITA and similar subreddits for discussion topics, too. But posting on Reddit is a whole different game - it’s one of the few platforms that still enforces strict no self-promo rules. That’s exactly why it’s stayed so authentic all these years. If your post even smells like marketing, mods will take it down, no matter how much value you think you’re providing. Navigating that space takes real experience - Phil, your blog has some great tips on how to fast-track that delicate process. Thanks for posting!

They aready announced pay walls, driven away moderating tools, sold all data to train AI, please dont give them more ideas. Yet its the last place on the internet where you can get help, if brands and influencers get a wiff of the money its gonna turn into another linkedin fiasco

Actually it’s greatest value is to companies looking for verified human interaction (ie AI training). It’s stock price reflects that already

It's funny to see where different audiences flock. I'd bet there's a decent Facebook group for the sports card collectors too
