Didn't hear back about your job application?
Maybe, it's time to think like a RECRUITER,
Consider, yourself in a driving seat and you are hiring for the same role,
You post a job, and you start receiving applicants,
10 Applicants?
You have plenty of time to review them all, and ultimately you reach out via DMs to those who didn't even apply, You headhunt people (That's where LinkedIn profile optimization helps), You look for referrals, and you find alternate ways to get talent.
100 Applicants? You reduce time to review each, You just skim all resumes, You only talk to those whose resumes stand out, You can directly call on a cellphone, and conduct basic screening.
1000 Applicants? Life's easy, you get picky, You automate the process, You take help from ATS, you find keywords in resumes, You send emails to those who seem relevant, You only go forward with the ones who respond to emails. Call on a cellphone? Not really, because you have a huge list of applicants to choose from.
Guess what? you as a recruiter have more open roles too, and you need to manage your time well,
Sadly attention to each applicant decreases as the number of roles and applicants rises.
The rule of thumb is, that as the job market gets tougher, more and more applicants are applying for roles, and competition to stay ahead is tough.
You WIN when you put yourself in RECRUITER'S Shoes, and craft your approach as per the situation.
And yes, you don't wanna end up losing the opportunity because you didn't read the email.
