Let's get ready for a future that is graceful
I dont want to sound like i move around reminding people that they are getting old and should do this and that about it. It's not like anyone can reverse the ageing process. It is the way nature handles all things, humans included. So there are no two ways about it. Whether you try to slow it down or camouflage it, we are all adding one wrinkle after another, and soon it will be obvious. So the only thing we can do is to get ready. Let me show you how.
Now, this is my fifth writing about ageing. I write about ageing because, at the rate it happens, many of us are unaware that it's a spectrum and that everyone is at one point in that process. Instead, we feel that it's when we get to retirement or a certain age that the journey starts. The poor side of this thinking is that we will be facing the preparations we make.
It might sound ironic, but it's important to remind ourselves now and then that we are getting older today. The truth is, there are things that we need to do now and habits that we need to drop immediately to maintain our well-being. These habits can be as destructive as termites, slowly eating away at our health and happiness. We only have now to make amends, as scars - whether superficial or internal, on the surface or deep within our organs, tissues, or cells - will not simply disappear when we realize we are getting old.
What I am saying is simple to understand. Someone at age 25 can save themselves some terrible knee or back pain in the future from the way they habitually sit or the activities they do with their legs. I am not implying that every chronic pain in the ageing process is a fault in the person's early life.
No.
What I am saying is that we can change a lot of things by making some life adjustments to our habits and lifestyle. It's easier at a younger age than at older age.
I don't want to start again with a list of habits and behaviours we should work on. I believe that if we remind ourselves that ageing is a hidden part of living, it tells us in all honesty to drop the bad habits like smoking in all its forms, excessive drinking, living an active lifestyle, eating healthy, taking enough water and avoid toxic things (chemicals, places and people inclusive).
Lastly, i will continue to wish you a graceful ageing. Let's continue to make positive contributions to this inevitable process
