3 things for Volunteers Week! ??
We are looking forward to Volunteers’ Week 2024 from 3-9 June and celebrating the amazing contribution our partners and volunteers make to closing the reading gap in the UK. Here are 3 key ways you can get involved:
1) Contribute to our recommendations on running an impactful employee volunteering scheme
The evidence is conclusive. Employee or workplace volunteering is no longer a ‘nice to have’ but a MUST DO. Take our survey to help us create and share our set of recommendations on introducing and running successful volunteering schemes.
It’s anonymous and short! Fill it out here.

2) Sign up for our webinar: Unlock Opportunities for Social Impact in Education ??
On 5 June at 1pm, we are excited to be collaborating with Governors for Schools on a webinar showcasing how companies can leverage volunteering to deliver socio-economic impact. Join us to:

Sellafield Ltd and Programme and Project Partners (PPP) recognised at UK Procurement Awards ??
Huge congratulations to our partners Sellafield Ltd and Programme and Project Partners (PPP) for being highly commended in three categories, including Social Value, at the UK National GO Procurement Awards 23/24. Their work with Chapter One in West Cumbria is a key way in which they work with their supply chain to respond to local social and economic challenges.
Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation and Chapter One announce winner of story competition ??
A group of pupils from a Chapter One primary school in Bermondsey were invited to the West End offices of Sodexo this month for the announcement of the winning book in our story competition with our Platinum Partner Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation .
Celebrating our partners, volunteers and schools ??
On Tuesday 2 July, we invite our online reading volunteers, corporate and school partners to join us either in-person or online for our annual Partner, Volunteer and School Recognition Awards. This event will be a celebration of our partners’ and volunteers’ individual and collective achievements, an opportunity to hear from and celebrate our school partners and teachers, and the presentation of some awards.
In-person places have all been allocated but you can join the waitlist, and of course you can still register for virtual attendance! If you have registered for an in-person ticket but can no longer attend, please do let us know so we can give your space to another volunteer!
When: Tuesday 2 July, 2024, 5-7.30pm (timings for virtual attendance: 6.00pm for approximately 6.10pm - 6.45pm)
