Get ready for Money Month Lesotho Campaign 2024

Good money management and financial literacy remain a challenge for many households. Fortunately, the Money Month Lesotho (MML) campaign that aims to drive awareness and empower Basotho with financial knowledge and skills to help them make informed decisions is back.

What is the Money Month Lesotho Campaign?

The MML campaign is an annual financial literacy initiative by the financial sector which seeks to promote financial education and encourage good money management. The Lesotho financial sector comprises of the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, Central Bank of Lesotho (CBL), commercial banks, insurance companies, micro-lenders, pension funds, mobile network operators (MNO), non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and independent financial educators.

What topics does the campaign cover?

The theme for the 2024 campaign is ‘Protect your money, secure your future’. In line with the theme, below are topics the campaign will discuss to help Basotho protect their money. This list is not exhaustive.

·?????? Planning for your spending habits and using debt responsibly.

·?????? Preparing for unexpected emergencies and saving for rainy days.

·?????? Managing financial risks and cybersecurity.

·?????? Using insurance to protect your future.

·?????? Planning for the future and retirement.

What can attendees expect?

Attendees can also expect different financial literacy seminars for the business community, youth in business, public servants, security personnel, women’s associations and people with disabilities. There will also be roadshows for street vendors and taxi associations, and financial literacy competitions for primary and high school students.

Where and when is the 2024 campaign happening?

The campaign started on Thursday, 11th April 2024 in Mohale’s Hoek with the official launch happening at the Alliance Complex and different activities will continue in the district until 18th April 2024. From Mohale’s Hoek, the campaign will host different activities in Maseru, on radio,? television and social media platforms until 11 May 2024.?
