Get Ready to Engage at ASNT 2024

Are you ready to engage? The theme of ASNT 2024, “Engage,” reflects ASNT’s mission in bringing the nondestructive testing (NDT) world together to actively participate, connect, and collaborate. This year, get ready to come together and contribute to the advancement of NDT practices—and have a lot of fun too!

The venue for ASNT 2024 is Caesars Forum, a new event space that just opened in 2020. Caesars Forum is conveniently built on one level and has direct access to ASNT’s host hotels, The LINQ and Harrah’s, through the Forum Sky Bridge. It’s also connected to The LINQ Promenade, which features shopping, dining and entertainment, via the Forum Plaza and is anchored by the world-famous High Roller observation wheel.

The conference will officially kick off with an exciting opening keynote by Tamara Robertson titled “Engaging STEM to Help Fill the Gaps in the Workforce Pipeline.” Robertson is an engineer turned science host, best known for her role on the science entertainment television program MythBusters. As a licensed chemical and biomolecular engineer, she has gained experience in global tech transfers, process and facilities design, pandemic vaccine manufacturing, patented additive technology development, and product design for top Fortune 500 companies. The opening keynote is sponsored by Carestream NDT.

The exhibit hall will open immediately after the keynote with a welcome reception. Featuring the largest NDT-specific exhibit floor with more than 215 exhibitors, ASNT 2024 is the place to see the newest products and service innovations! Stop by the ASNT Booth to meet ASNT staff and learn about ASNT’s latest offerings, including online training and our new AI assistant. The ASNT booth will also host a silent auction in support of the ASNT Foundation, offering attendees the chance to bid on sports and pop culture memorabilia, as well as NDT-specific items. Supporting the ASNT Foundation helps further its mission of fostering education, research, and innovation in NDT.

This year’s conference program will feature more than 100 technical sessions covering all major methods and industries, the latest updates on codes and standards, and new innovations. The session tracks include energy, transportation, NDT methods, infrastructure, NDT management, and advanced ultrasonic testing (presented by TPAC).

On Wednesday, the exhibit hall will also host the finals of the UT and VT competitions, where NDT practitioners can show off their testing skills and earn prizes (as well as bragging rights!). This year marks the debut of the American Welding Society (AWS) VT Competition, which will assess the visual testing skills of Certified Weld Inspectors and Senior Certified Weld Inspectors on welded connections.

If you have been active on ASNT’s new online community, ASNT Connect, don’t miss this chance to meet up with your fellow community members live and in person. These meet-ups will take place in the Forum Foyer from 11:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. And if you haven’t already, check out ASNT Connect at asnt.org. The individual communities include Technical (11:00 a.m.), Research (1:00 p.m.), Sections (2:00 p.m.), NDT Education (3:00 p.m.), and IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility) (4:00 p.m.). These sessions are open to current and interested members.

The ASNT Celebrates! banquet is the pinnacle event for recognition and honor at ASNT 2024. This awards ceremony shines a spotlight on outstanding achievements and contributions within the field of NDT. A live auction will take place during the event to raise funds for the ASNT Foundation’s important work. After the banquet, the ASNT Celebrates! After-Party will kick off in the outdoor event venue right outside the conference facility. This party is open to all conference attendees and will feature live music from the Las Vegas Raiders house band, Pop40.

ASNT 2024 will conclude with a closing keynote and luncheon on Thursday at 12:00 p.m., featuring AI/ML futurist and economist Shawn DuBravac. DuBravac is the author of the New York Times bestseller Digital Destiny: How the New Age of Data Will Transform the Way We Work, Live, and Communicate. Grounded in economics, his work explores how the widespread adoption of digital technologies signals the beginning of a new era for humanity in business, healthcare, finance, transportation, and culture.
