Paul Beachnau is spreading the word about Gaylord as the ultimate winter destination on his annual media blitz! Today, Paul is meeting with media experts in the Detroit area to promote our beautiful winter community. His interviews include WJBK-TV FOX 2 Detroit, WJR 760 AM Radio and WWJ/Michigan News Network.?

Our group sales manager, Alise Hale, represented Gaylord in Chattanooga this week at the Sports Events & Tourism Association 4S Summit! This two-day event caters to sports tourism and focuses heavily on strategies, services, sales and sponsorships. Industry experts were on hand to inform the 250 attendees about the latest trends and best practices in sports tourism. This summit will help prepare the Gaylord Area Convention & Tourism Bureau to cater to sporting groups to enhance our community and tourism product.

Today, our Group Sales Manager, Alise Hale, attended The Destination Michigan Showcase, the state's largest meetings industry event! This one-day tradeshow brings together destinations, hotels, speakers and other service experts from all over the state. She connected with meeting planners and promoted Gaylord as an ideal destination for meetings and events.

Our director of marketing, Christy Walcott, will be greeting eager snowmobilers at the Novi Snowmobile Show again this year. The Tourism Bureau attends the show to distribute updated copies of our snowmobile trails map (for free!) and spread the word about Gaylord as a winter wonderland. The first 200 people to visit our booth will receive a Michigan Snowmobile Festival long-sleeved shirt, so be sure to stop by November 1-3 at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi!

The Pigeon River Discovery Center is a vital nonprofit in the heart of the Pigeon River Country State Forest. We're proud to support their work in preserving the forest's history and beauty. Greg Johnson, writer for the Gaylord Golf Mecca among many other associations and publications, was recently inducted into the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame. This honor is reserved for individuals who have contributed greatly to the tradition, strength and on-going success of golf in Michigan. Today, our executive director, Paul Beachnau, is at the Meeting Professionals International (MPI) Chapter Fall Symposium in Mount Pleasant. This morning, our team had the privilege of watching our executive director, Paul Beachnau, and board director, Barry Owens, GM of Treetops Resort, take the stage at the Gaylord Area Chamber of Commerce’s State of the Community Breakfast. Paul and Barry shared information on ways the Tourism Bureau helps support non-tourism related local projects, additions in staffing and programs and also insights on the golf industry. It was a great opportunity to hear about the progress we’re making as a community and what’s on the horizon to continue moving forward. This week, our team had the opportunity to attend the Pure Michigan Partner Summit hosted in Gaylord at the beautiful Treetops Resort. It was a great chance to connect with fellow leaders in the tourism industry and exchange ideas on how to keep Michigan a top destination. The Tourism Bureau staff even had the opportunity to catch up with Kelly Wolgamott, Vice President of Pure Michigan. ? A big thanks to Treetops Resort for their fantastic service and hospitality! We’re proud to announce our collaboration with Michigan Cares for Tourism as part of the adopt-a-forest initiative in our community.
