We started the year with an empowering conversation about finding your voice -- a topic that I’m so deeply passionate about that I'm writing a whole book about it -- “The New Rules of Influence” coming in 2024.

With Melody Godfred , I discussed:

• Owning your story
• Using your narrative to make an impact in the world
• Looking within and finding clarity: How do I want to show up every day? What do I want to communicate?
• Refining your message, say what you want to communicate in fewer words
• Finding opportunities to connect with others

In the conversation with Latoya Roberts , we explored the path to a leadership position in your company, and the vital role a mentor can play in your career success. Latoya also talked about:

• Becoming self-aware, finding out what you stand for
• Looking for opportunities to use your voice and speak up
• Creating a priority list and giving yourself grace: I loved her "rubber balls and glass balls" analogy

Lyn Wineman shared secrets to building your online influence and presence to stand out. Some key ideas from that session are:

Hosting Charles Good from The Institute for Management Studies was such a pleasure as he shared his knowledge on effective communications highlighting ideas such as:

During the conversation with Whitney Hake , she shared how to add value in every meeting and make a lasting positive impact. From her experience, she offered insights such as:

Michael Quinn taught us easy-to-implement steps to build a strong online presence to amplify your influence. We discussed how to:

• Avoid mistakes that can affect your online reputation

Next, Param Venkat showed us how to master the power of storytelling. The key insights we explored:

• Creating your story inventory
• The 3 components of every story

My friend Jolie M. from LinkedIn highlighted key steps to advance in your career by:

• Investing in yourself and others
• Finding mentors and sponsors

As we approached the last months of the year, I hosted Sarah Blansett from Military(dot)com. Sarah’s experience in communications taught us how to:

• Be empathetic in our communication
• Edit all our messages
• Define the urgency of a message and the medium to share it?
• Be humble?

And last but not least, I chatted with Bobby Thompson about presence and influence. During this session, we learned about:

• Being intentional about your presence and influence
• Defining who your audience is
• Serving your audience
• Finding commonalities without losing your authenticity
