GET READY FOR AMB 2024!
From 10 to 14 September 2024, AMB will open its doors to the who's who of the metalworking industry! Then the heart of the metalworking industry will once again beat for five days at Messe Stuttgart.
Every two years since 1982, AMB has presented the highlights of the international metalworking industry. It focuses on products, technologies, innovations, services and concepts for people who are passionate about metalworking. This makes it a marketplace, training and networking platform all in one. Whether you are visitor?or exhibitor?- over the years, AMB has become one of the most important events of the industry.
Let us take a look at some of the exhibiting companies at AMB 2024:
Rollon will present its extensive portfolio of products and solutions for machine tools.
At the fair, the focus will be on Shuton-Ipiranga high-performance ball screws, Rosa Sistemi roller guides and the wide range of linear guides, telescopic slides and actuators.
Rollon is one of the world’s leading suppliers of linear motion solutions. Whether moving rotary tables, tool heads, automatic doors, loading and unloading systems, pull-out drawers, operating elements or robots and cobots, Rollon provides the machine tool industry with a wide range of products and solutions that ensure high process efficiency and reliability.
At AMB, visitors to Rollon/Shuton-Ipiranga’s stand 2C40 in Hall 2 will be able to discover the complete range of products within the Rollon by Timken ecosystem and learn about their benefits. The focus will be on high-performance ball screws from Shuton-Ipiranga and linear guides from Rosa Sistemi.
Experience KUKA's intelligent robotics for metalworking
At Booth C71?in Hall 6, KUKA will be demonstrating how easy it is to integrate robots with our KUKA.PLC mxAutomation software, and how mobile robotics keeps things moving – true to the motto "Industrial Intelligence: Your World of Automation".
Your machine tools at a new level
The shortage of skilled workers is becoming increasingly apparent. Automation can provide relief in metalworking and reduce labour throughout the entire process: During pallet loading and unloading, transport to the processing machine, processing and deburring.
The Mobility Area: from deburring to transportation
In the Mobility Area, KUKA and partners will be demonstrating how the interaction of robotics and machine tools is advancing metalworking. On the compact KR IONTEC 50 , WMS-Engineering GmbH will be demonstrating the automated deburring of components, while the MAIROFlex CYBERTECH from MAIROTEC makes no secret of the fact that it is a multifunctional robot. In addition to quality control, it masters bin picking with its usual high level of performance. To do this, the robot picks components from a box in order to feed them for further processing. In cooperation with BEC GmbH , trade fair visitors can experience the automatic tool change on the KMR iisy . Another transport professional will be on site, too: the KMP 1500P , an autonomous mobile platform, reliably transports material from A to B.
More powerful robots: the right solution for every need
KUKA is also bringing three other powerful robots to Stuttgart: The KR QUANTEC is robust and flexible – whether for palletizing or assembly, this robot uses its power variably. The KR FORTEC ultra is compact and extremely efficient. It provides machine tools with a powerful helping hand. The KR AGILUS , the versatile six-axis robot for metalworking, achieves the highest operating speeds in the smallest of spaces.
SCHUNK to showcase a variety of automation options

At AMB, SCHUNK - Hand in hand for tomorrow will showcase a variety of automation options, making manufacturing processes more efficient and companies fit for the future. True to the SCHUNK motto: “Hand in Hand for tomorrow“.
SCHUNK will showcase diverse approaches of automated machine loading from simple entry to high-end solutions. In addition, visitors will experience vivid examples of automated workpiece handling with innovative handling solutions. The 2D Grasping Kit, for example, which was honoured with the HERMES Award 2024, enables a quick and easy introduction in the process-reliable automated handling of unsorted parts. Brand new is the mechatronic EZU centric gripper: The robust and resistant gripper is perfectly suited for harsh working conditions and handles cylindrical or eccentrically positioned workpieces of various sizes without loss of gripping force. A variety of communication interfaces, PLC function modules and plugins to renowned robot manufacturers ensure easy integration.
SCHUNK also offers manual, automatic, and intelligent clamping solutions for almost any application in its product line for workpiece clamping technology. The existing product lines are continuously expanded and adapted to customer requirements. For example, with the flexible, manual 4-jaw compensation chucks ROTA-ML flex 2+2?any workpiece geometry can be clamped. The product range was revised from size 500?mm in diameter: The chuck heights were reduced up to 30?percent, and therefore the chuck weight lowered up to 40?percent. This gives users significantly more freedom in terms of size and weight of the workpiece to be machined.
With the KONTEC KS-H-LH, SCHUNK launches a compact and strong hydraulically actuated long stroke vise with an overall clamping force of 80?kN. Therefore a clamping range of 20?to 345?mm is achieved with a hydraulic clamping stroke of 110?mm. In addition, data such as path measurement or dynamic pressure can be transferred to the machine control via IO-Link.
There are also new developments in the field of magnetic clamping technology: SCHUNK has reworked the proven magnetic chucks MAGNOS MFRS and equipped them with an additional digital feature: a new ePaper status display provides the user with information about the clamping statuses “MAG ON”, and “MAG OFF” to ensure reliable clamping and maximum process reliability.
Discover how NSK Motion Control Solutions deliver better machining results
Bearings are central to the premise of using machine tools to produce precision-machined components. Key among the latest NSK products at AMB 2024?will be the ROBUSTDYNA angular contact ball bearing for machine tool spindles. This ultra-high speed, high-load capacity bearing delivers highly versatile machining via its outstanding performance during both roughing and finishing operations.
The use of larger balls in ROBUSTDYNA bearings elevates the maximum load capacity of this innovative product by up to 15% compared with the previous-generation solution. Users subsequently enjoy easier machining of challenging materials such as Inconel, titanium and composites. With up to three times more fatigue life (dynamic load rating), ROBUSTDYNA supports both heavy-duty and high-speed machining.
Another highlight of NSK’s AMB booth will be the SURSAVE (TSR) bearing cage for angular contact ball bearings, which are typically found on the main spindle of machine tools. The outer-ring-guided, PPS resin SURSAVE cage generates 20% less friction than conventional bearings. Machine shops can therefore tap into energy savings and greater workpiece precision due to less thermal expansion of the spindle.
For AMB visitors seeking the latest ball-screw innovations, recent additions to the NSK portfolio include the company’s next-generation offer for high-accuracy machine tools. Thanks to fewer motion errors and no ‘second glitch’ phenomenon, this ball screw boosts throughput by reducing or eradicating the requirement for secondary operations like polishing/burnishing in high-accuracy mould and die machining, for example. In addition, lower drive torque delivers savings in energy consumption.NSK will also display its recently developed low-temperature ball screw. The friction loss/heat generation of this innovative product is some 45% lower than conventional ball screws at the same rigidity, helping users to maintain positional accuracy. Furthermore, the low-temperature ball screw helps to reduce the energy consumption of machine tools by lowering or even eliminating cooling requirements.
Other components central to the success of many new machine tools are linear guides. The centrepiece of the NSK offer at AMB will be the recently introduced DH/DS long-life series. With its class-leading dynamic load rating, the DH/DS linear guide provides over double the running distance of the company’s conventional NH/NS series. This advanced product also facilitates downsizing by allowing the use of smaller linear guides, reducing both machine weight and energy consumption.
