Get proper leads from sending cold emails. Here is how.

I'd normally charge for this but here, have it for free.

Many companies struggle to get leads. With over 10 years of insight I now know why. Yes, it is a combination of different things, however one element that firms are struggling with is getting responses from email campaigns.

If you know how to do it, it is the easiest way to get leads. This is something you want to get right as it will save you time, money and effort. It will also get you some good prospects.

I have found that to get the most success from B2B, 'cold emails,' in the technology, #telecoms, fintech & finance industry, the emails should;

1. Be less than 100 words. 70-100 words is an ideal size. So yes, keep your message short.

2. Don't use images on the first cold email. Maybe the one after - not the first. Lots of creatives will disagree with me but I have stats to prove it. Don't send anything where the reader has to click 'view images,' to read your email. It is so annoying and it looks like spam

3. Always, always, always include a link to a decent landing page. The landing page must be able to capture the visitors details. For example, their name, company name and email. Don't ask them for too many details - Yet. This can be a landing page to download a complimentary e-book on anything like, 'Making sure your business minimises the risk of getting hacked...'

4. Don't be too formal. It's boring. Really. #CEO's & #CIOs get 100's of formal emails every day and most of them just go, 'delete, delete, delete...' I don't think I have used 'Dear,' or a 'surname,' in a cold email... (this probably shocks some people)...

5. Make sure you have your social media icons on your email and have this tracked too.

6. The email needs to convey that you give a damn about the person and the business that you are emailing, If you don't care, then you should't be emailing them in the first place. Send them something useful of value.

7. As for the email subject - use 2 words. 3 max. Don't make it spammy. Something like, 'Tech Events,' or 'IT Meeting.'

8. Never start an email with, 'Hi... My name is......' That's very amateur. The reader doesn't care who you are yet.

9. Ask at least one question. Give them something to reply to.

10. Track everything and follow up. .

11. The most important - The email should be sent from a person and the reader should be able to reply to the same person at the same company!!!!! It sounds simple but so many companies don't adopt that approach. So, to clarify, don't be sending cold/intro emails from email addresses like, '[email protected],' or '[email protected]...' and definitely no emails that have those really long and stupid codes in them so that when you reply it goes something like this --dhwjfdbhghjmkvcfghjgc56789iuyhujikjhgfvdghjchjkdnhdyhuiujhgeuijdfnh@dgnhshdhedd. No prospect wants to see that. It looks like drama. It looks like you don't care. It gives the impression that you think sales/business is just a numbers game and the reader is just a number to you. Don't give those vibes, so, use, '[email protected].'

12. If you get 1 spelling error in your email by mistake and your boss gets annoyed because it's so 'unprofessional,' I bet if you check the stats on that email you'd have a higher engagement rate from this email. Why? Because it looks like a real email. It looks less 'marketing like.' It looks authentic. I am not saying to spell things wrong on purpose, I am simply trying to emphasise the psychology of cold emails.

To understand #lead #generation, cold #emailing, cold calling and marketing you have to understand people. You have to understand the psychology of it.

I am not saying that this will work in every industry but if you are in tech or finance it will.

---------

My emails have a much higher than average open and response rate. The landing page engagements that my clients get from my emails are also much higher than the average.

If you are a #B2B #business and want some marketing emails tailored to you that I know will get you leads/ #appointments, then contact me.

Also, if you are worried about how #GDPR affects marketing and #email #campaigns, there is nothing to stress about. Just make sure you adopt the right practises. It won't make marketing harder. Relax.
