Every one of my new connections always gets a Welcome Email that is written as such:
Thanks for connecting, always looking for like minded people to collaborate - please let me know if I can introduce you to anyone in my network who you want to meet with. LinkedIn.com/in/ronshifron
I usually get Thank You Messages and Other nice notes (rarely do I get a reciprocation note) but often I get people who ask me to start working for them, something like I am looking for XXX and would love connecting with such people.
I say folks, read my offer, get with the program - look through my contacts and if you find someone relevant I would be happy to make the connection. I am not prepared to start working for you and looking for the relevant people. My network is worth a lot and I don't intend to spam them with unneeded messages.
I also often get messages requesting business intros without having proper introductions from the person requesting - how can I introduce you without knowing you???
And a sales pitch within two seconds of accepting a contact is not acceptable either.
