Get to the point !

No doubt "small talk" is a good way to break  "ice" and get you started, especially when you are engaged in on social occasions. Some people are really good at it, some struggles. With certain audiences it may even backfire. I can remember one of my bosses telling me once very bluntly "cut the crap and get to the point!".

In business situations, and specially when dealing with big picture generalists it's important to get to the point (GTP) fast. This way you imply you mean "business".

When you deal with others don't let them ramble . You don't have to be rude or blunt, yet you could do it very diplomatically : Well ! I'm really tied up with this project this week , but tell me how can I help you?"

A big part of "Getting things done" is "Getting to the point"  fast !
