Get out of your own way !

A recent conversation with my two LinkedIn friends led me to write this article !

We all have our comfort zones and feel so safe and secure psychologically in those zones But our growth always happens outside of this comfort zone be it shedding a few pounds of weight or achieving a goal we set in our career .The moment we start taking actions to get results we forget to take stock of the situation .We just keep trying harder and harder towards achieving our goals and we realise how hard the climb is,nearly impossible,we either get frustrated or give up.

We have another option available to us.We need to step back, take a mindful pause and observe our feelings.Our feelings never lie, they are true and if we have feelings of overwhelm,or unworthiness or feeling useless and undeserving about the outcome we are pursuing we have to take stock of the situation.Paying attention to our feelings mindfully and over a period of time will release the old patterns .Paying attention with an intended purpose and open curiosity releases the stress we feel about achieving the outcome and we develop resilience to take focused actions thereby succeeding in our goals .

The intention to write this article is to see that we get out of our own way by observing the resistance which is our obstacle to achieve our dreams !

As always, Jahnavi, you articulated it really well. If I've understood this article correctly, the central theme is to 'not forget to step back every once in a while to take stock of the situation, do a minor course correction if necessary, before resuming'.

Mindfulness can be such a powerful way of strengthening our self-awareness and ability to cope with life demands. Taking a step back and pausing can bring great perspective and healing. I also think we need to get out of our own way, as we can sometimes be our own biggest hindrance. Thanks for sharing Jahnavi Katti
