And if there’s one thing I’ve learned in all this time, it’s that the quickest and longest-lasting results are achieved through communicating with the subconscious / superconscious minds and the body’s energy systems, simultaneously.

Your happiness may be based upon certain conditions. ie. ‘I’ll only be happy when I have (x, y or z)’. When you meet those conditions, you immediately create new goals or targets that deny you happiness until they are attained.

I don't think I need to tell you that if you cannot resolve this problem, you could end up losing people that you really love and care about.?

BUT WHAT IS SELF-SABOTAGE, REALLY?

HOW, WHEN AND WHERE DOES IT BEGIN?

Self-sabotage is known as any behaviour that undermines your success, in any area of your life.

These behaviours can go against your very best intentions to be happy and healthy…

Eg. choosing a healthy lifestyle, only to slide back into apathy, laziness, alcohol, junk food, etc. a couple of weeks later.

It's so frustrating, isn't it??

Consciously, you’d like to do something good and healthy for yourself.

However, your subconscious has a different approach and because it’s so powerful, it simply overrides the conscious mind.

WHY DOES YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS MIND SELF-SABOTAGE YOUR EFFORTS TO BECOME YOUR BEST?

As human beings, we have a safety feature in our subconscious where we are hard-wired to blend into our environment and the wider tribe, as to not get singled out by the majority for being ‘different’.

It’s essentially a survival mechanism, and while it’s designed to protect you, it can also subconsciously hold you back.

The subconscious mind doesn't know the difference between reality and fantasy, ie. everything you see on TV, hear on the radio, podcasts, is graded and ranked as information from your ‘tribes’.?

All the brainwashing messages you receive at school and the repetitive messages from the culture or religion you were brought up in are designed to bring about fear and conformity at a deep level.

All of this affects your subconscious programming, which aims to keep you normal and average, so you blend into the wider tribe. It's an ancient function of the brain that was useful thousands of years ago when survival outside the tribe was almost impossible.??

Because if you’re seen as a tall poppy, you will often lose your head…?

And this can start at a very young age, with spoken or unspoken pressure from your family to not outdo them, and to ‘know your place’, peer pressure to not outdo your friends or they will shun you, societal pressure to remain mediocre ‘and that’s OK because we’re all in this together’, right?

All this downward pressure has a negative impact on your subconscious programming.

And because your subconscious mind runs at least 95% of your habits and behaviours, this has a massive influence on how you are in the world.

So depending on your subconscious programming, you'll be happy, healthy, wealthy and wise... or not.??

IF NOT, WHY NOT?

WHY ARE YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS PROGRAMS CAUSING YOU TO SELF-SABOTAGE?

Well, there are numerous factors that altogether make up your programming.?

It starts before you're even born, because babies are delivered with 3 months of subconscious programming on board.

Their mother's levels of happiness and joy, fear and stress will adapt and prepare them for the environment they are born into.

And once we are born, we go on to live the first 7 years of our lives in a state of hypnosis.?In this hypnotic state, we simply download everything we see, everything we perceive.?

At that age, we don't need to be taught anything - we just need to be shown.??

This is because the bulk of the learning we do in our entire lives is done within those first seven years, hence the expression 'Give me a child ‘till he is seven years old and I will show you the wo/man or being.'

The downside of absorbing everything like a sponge, however, is that subconscious programs of fear and anxiety can start very early in life.

If I asked you about the things that really stand out to you from your childhood, I bet there will be certain memories that are burned into your brain that you’ll never forget.?

Those things might have created extreme happiness or extreme trauma and because of this, they stand out from the blur that was your everyday childhood.??

Some of these events could have been tiny and barely noticeable; or even perceived ‘threats’ that the subconscious mind categorised as something to protect you from in the future.

This is because trauma is all about how we react to an event, rather than the event itself.?So if there's some sort of a fear that you experienced during those first seven years, that fear can stay with you right into adulthood.

A good example is a young child looking at a photo of a plane in a magazine - and at that moment, a door slams and the subconscious mind associates the plane with danger and creates a fear of flying to ‘keep them safe’.

BUT CAN’T WE USE DISCIPLINE AND WILLPOWER TO CONSCIOUSLY LEAVE THOSE FEARS BEHIND?

Technically, yes but it’s easier said than done because the subconscious mind is so much more powerful...

To give you an idea, babies up to 7 years of age download 20 million bits of information per second.??

An average adult's subconscious downloads 11 million bits per second and our conscious mind can handle about 140 bits per second.

This is why it can be so difficult to override the subconscious mind.

But the good news is, when the right tools and techniques are used, the solutions are quick and easy to implement.
