Bubbles can get constrictive.
All of us live in some sort of bubble.
If you're privileged enough to do knowledge work, you're already living in a bubble. Whenever I converse with a cab or auto driver, I get slapped with a dose of reality. When I hear the challenges my maid faces or read about the lives of people who deliver my food or groceries, I am forced to reevaluate many things.
In the tech world, there is a lot of buzz on valuations and funding. And it's easy to get sucked into that vortex. Once in a while, speak to a bootstrapper or small business owner and ask them about their business. You'll realize there is a world where every sale matters and you can't stay in business if you don't make a profit.
In advertising, there were a lot of people who lived in an awards bubble and created work only for juries, and not the common man.
Staying in a bubble is comfortable as it's one way of avoiding reality.
Get out of the bubble. There is an entire world out there.
