LinkedIn page, create content that matters

LinkedIn has recently made some changes to the algorithm. Does this impact you? Only when you write for the algorithm and not for your audience. LinkedIn wants to keep its members on the platform. And the only way to keep members longer and have them come back more often is by showing the members content that matters to them. Relevant content with value. Content from your own connections and people you decide to follow will be prioritized.

What does that mean for the content you write? How do you make sure your content is relevant to your network? Think about this:

  • What do they care about & can they learn from you
  • Why do they care about this & care about your thoughts
  • How does this impact them & how does your content impact them
  • When do they have time for LinkedIn & do they have time for your content

Knowing LinkedIn wants to keep members on the platform also helps to understand what type of content works best. Links to external pages send people away from the platform. Native content such as long posts, native videos, and carousels keeps members on the platform. Keep this in mind when you create content and balance it out.

LinkedIn Advertising thought leadership ads

LinkedIn's newest ad format is finally here! The thought leadership has finally launched and gives you, as an advertiser, the option to sponsor employee content. This means you can leverage content from your C-levels or executive and build strong brand awareness around your business. Did you know influencer marketing can drive +70% brand recall vs other media? This means you can now tap into this potential with your own employees!

This type of campaign and content can be relevant to leverage with thought leadership ads:

  • Knowledge-sharing positions your leaders as thought leaders and share their opinions with specific wider audiences
  • Brand awareness tells the story of the business and shares the vision and vision with the target audience
  • Potential (warm) leads can be taken by the hand and show product content or educational content to increase their knowledge and interest in the business
  • Employer branding can be done via the content of the employees to show what it's like to work at your company
  • Executive content to build trust with specific audiences such as customers, stakeholders & investors

LinkedIn page the message button

You mind have seen the message button for pages already. LinkedIn is testing the option to message a LinkedIn page. This means, your community can reach you and your colleagues via LinkedIn in a DM. This is a massive step in creating engagement with your community!

When a page has access to the message button you will see the button at the top of the page.

When a member clicks on the button they can start to write a message. The message will go to a separate inbox, which you can access via your page.

A page can only send a message to a member after they've received a message from the member. The message needs to be at least 25 characters and only 750 characters long. Thanks for the first message Guy Strijbosch !

When you use the message option as a business you need to make sure you have your teams ready to answer questions and help your community. If you need more time to get this set up or you don't want to leverage this feature you can switch it off.

When you don't see this feature yet, LinkedIn is rolling out the message option to the pages in phases.

Do you want to get your LinkedIn campaigns, profile, or page in shape this summer?

The summer is a great moment to improve your LinkedIn efforts to see results coming right away! Advertising is more cost-effective during the summer because some advertisers take a break. This has a positive impact on price. Besides this, your audience will still be available and will have the time to really watch, listen or read your content. During the summer it's easier to reach your audience because of the break of some advertisers. From my own experience, the summer is the perfect moment to improve and optimize your efforts to see results in the long term.

Thanks for the mention in your Newsletter Wendy. Messaging a Page has been rolled out to many [single-Admin] Pages but not yet to all. Anyway an interesting development to make Pages even more valuable. This being said, hope many will follow your most important message; getting their Linkedin in shape this summer. There's always room for improvement.
