GET TO KNOW US: MONIKA STRAUJA, SOCIAL TEAM LEAD EMEA

The ‘GET TO KNOW US’ series continues as we show you the incredible expertise we have across our business.

This time, we want to introduce you to Monika Strauja, our Social Team Lead for the EMEA region, who heads up the social team to deliver best social practices and coverage for the brands we work with.?

Side note; her beautiful Australian Shepherd has also just given birth to seven puppies (we couldn’t not add that one in!)

Originally from Latvia and a Law with Criminology graduate, Monika started working in social media whilst at university in 2017. Her journey began by helping her university esports society, and students, have a more active presence on social media, within her role at a tournament organiser company called NUEL.?

‘As well as working for a student tournament organiser, I’ve also worked for quite a few esports teams - Excel Esports, London United, Ninjas in Pyjamas and Team Liquid and a couple of marketing agencies which led me to my role at Heaven.

My roles have ranged from Social Media Specialist to Content Strategist. Throughout my career I have mainly focused on marketing. I’ve worked within social media, community management, B2B, paid media, strategy, creative and content side of marketing.

I could’ve never imagined going down this path, but life works in mysterious ways and I most certainly wouldn’t have it any other way’.

But throughout her career and with the digital landscape being a fast paced and ever-growing industry, it goes without saying that she has seen some changes.

'The biggest change would probably be the birth of TikTok and the way it just exploded. It provides a platform for anyone to express themselves in their own unique way and allows everyone to find their communities.?

I feel like social media has always provided space for individuals to express themselves creatively, however never to this level. TikTok provides space for anyone to go viral and make content creation their full time jobs just through one platform. It’s rather impressive and admirable’.

With social media being such a busy platform, you’ve got to be able to stand out and really think outside the box.

‘To get people to take notice, you need to make the campaign unforgettable and that comes with some risks that most brands don’t want to take.?

Working with data available to you from your previous campaigns will provide you with so much information to go off, that inevitably will allow you to create the best campaign for your audience that will resonate and attract people to whatever the campaign is focused around’.
