GET TO KNOW THE TYPES OF WHALES AND THEIR UNIQUE BEHAVIOR, Loving nature, loving the sea and everything
Whales are the largest marine mammals. Whales are one of many species of animals that live and live in the sea. Whales are marine mammals, but are often referred to as fish because they are like fish. Whales are members of a large Cetacean nation.
In general, the pope is divided into two categories. There are toothed whales (odontoceti) and toothless whales (Mysticeti). Toothed Odontoceti whales are predators that eat fish, cuttlefish, and marine mammals, have one breathing hole. Toothed whales are closely related to dolphins and dolphins. Toothless whales are larger than toothed whales and have a structure known as brush-shaped balin. This structure is useful for filtering plankton, food, in water. The pope has two breathing holes.
I. Types of Whales
1. Blue Whale, Balaenoptera musculus
Blue Whale (Balaenoptera musculus) is a marine mammal that belongs to a baleen whale suborder (called Mysticeti). Blue Whales can reach up to 33 meters long and 180 metric tons (200 short tons) or heavier. In volume, it is currently the largest animal known to exist.
The characteristic of this whale is to have a small fin behind and to decrease to three quarters of its back. Has a unique skin color, has a collaboration of blue to gray with spots on it.
2. Fin Whale, Balaenoptera physalus
Fin Whale, also called finback whales, who like to work a lot, are marine mammals that are included in the baleen whale suborder. This is the second largest whale and the second largest living animal after the blue whale, growing nearly 27 meters.
The characteristics of the Fin Whale whale are long and have a slender body. The color of the whale skin is brownish gray with the bottom with a paler color. At least whale fin whales have two different subspecies, namely the northern fin whales in the North Atlantic and the Antarctic fin whales larger than the Southern Ocean
3. Bowhead Whale, Balaena mysticetus
Naming the bow head for itself appears because the jaw is high and curved, so that it looks deformed. This black whale lives in cold areas, namely at Artic. Therefore, they have special skin with thick fat reaching 45 cm. But it is still fat that makes humpback whales stay warm and protect them from very low cold sensations
Black whales without dorsal fins, which can grow up to 20 meters long. Estimated weight can reach 136 tons, slightly different from blue whales, although the maximum length is not along the other whales.
4. Gray Whale, Eschrichtius robustus
Gray whales have the Latin name Eschrichtius robustus is one of the baleen whales that migrate between meals and annual breeds. This whale has a body size of about 16 meters long and weighs up to 36 tons and is able to live for 50-60 years. It has gray and white spots on dark skin. This pope is one of the fiercest whales, and will provide resistance when threatened. Gray whales are the only species in the genus Eschrichtius.
Gray whales are the only species in the genus Eschrichtius, which in turn is the only genus in the Eschrichtiidae family. Whale mammals were derived from filter-meal developed in the early Oligocene, more than 30 million years ago.
5. Southern Right Whale, Eubalaena australis
This whale is still included in the baleen whale, is one of three species that are clarified in the genus Eubalaena whale. Like other Southern Right whales, Whale Southern Right is easily distinguished from the others by callosities above the head, without dorsal fins, and long curved mouths that begin above the eyes. The skin is very dark or black gray, sometimes with some white spots on the stomach. This whale has a thin body, able to reach lengths of up to 60 feet or 18 meters and a body weight of up to 100 tons.
The maximum size of Fish Satisfied adult females is 18.5 m, and about 130 tons. The testicles (seeds) may be the largest of any animal, each weighing about 500 kg. This shows that sperm competition is important in the marriage process..
6. Beluga Whale, Delphinapterus leucas
Beluga whales or white whales (Delphinapterus leucas) live in Antarctica and sub-North Pole species cetaceans. One of two members of the Monodontidae family. This type of whale can be easily recognized because of its unique appearance. The skin is really white, the rear fins are minimal. But the body functions to facilitate their navigation in the ice waters. This Whale has a small body size with a large forehead and a round head.
From a conservation perspective, beluga is considered "near threatened" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature; however the sub population of Cook Inlet in Alaska is considered critical and is under the protection of the United States Endangered Species.
7. Narwhal Whale, Monodon monocerostralis
The Narwhal is a medium-sized toothed whale that lives throughout the year at the North Pole. One of two species of whales in the Monodontidae family, along with Beluga whales. In male whales are distinguished by the characteristics of long, straight fangs in the jaw area extending from their left upper jaw. The function of the ivory, besides being used to protect itself from danger, is also used to attract the attention of females.
It has been harvested for more than a thousand years by Inuit people in Canada and North Greenland for meat and subsistence ivory and hunting are set to continue to this day. While populations appear stable, narwhal has been considered highly vulnerable to climate change because of its narrow geographical range and special diets.
8. Pilot Whale, G-Macrorhynchus
This whale is divided into two species, it will be difficult for us to distinguish it if we only see the two at sea. These species are "G-weld" and "G-Macrorhynchus". "G-melas" is a pilot whale with a long fin while "G-Macrorhynchus" is a pilot whale with short fins. A striking difference between the two is found in the skull that is owned. Pilot sharks occupy vast territorial waters throughout the world. "G weld" can be found in cold waters.
In contrast, "G-macrorhynchus" chose to live in tropical and sub-tropical waters. But they both have amazing intelligence. They also have a tendency to live in deep water.
9. Sperm Whale, Physeter macrocephalus
Sperm whales with the Latin name Physeter macrocephalus, are species of marine mammals, the order of Cetacea, toothed whales (odontocete) which have the largest brain. Sperm whales are the only member of the genus Physeter. Adult sperm whales can grow as long as 67 feet 20.5 meters with a load or body reaching 56 tons. Their brain size is so large between the animal kingdom, which weighs 20 pounds or about 9 kg. Therefore this whale may be said to be the largest among beluga whales, narwhal, and pilots.
There is one breath hole. The width of the head, complete with rows of sharp teeth. As for the names of sperm whales, they are obtained because they produce spermatozoa oil from their heads. As for habitat, these whales are found in most of the oceans.
10. Orca Whale, Orcinus orca
Orca, or Killer Whale "(Orcinus orca), also known as Whale Free Willy, is part of a toothed whale. In fact this Pope is the largest member of the dolphin family. Orca is a very social animal that travels in groups. The group usually consists of 5-30 whales, although some groups can join to form groups of 100 or more. Orca builds a social hierarchy, and these groups are led by women
Orca have a dorsal fin length with a large round body on their back. Their black body is characterized by white patches on the bottom and near the eyes.
11. North Atlantic Right Whale, Eubalaena glacialis
The North Atlantic whale is right whale (Eubalaena glacialis which means "good, or true, whale from ice") including baleen whales, one of three species belonging to the Eubalaena family, but previously had been classified in a single species.
12. Sei Whale, Balaenoptera borealis
Sei Whales are Fish Satisfied with balin, the third largest rorqual after blue whales and fin whales. He avoids the poles and tropical waters and semi-enclosed bodies of water. Sei Whales migrate every year from cold and subpolar waters in the summer to warm and subtropical waters.
13. Bryde’s Whale, Balaenoptera brydei
Whale Balaenoptera brydei is a species of cetacea, a marine mammal, in a complex group known as Bryde's Whale. They are the most unknown and in many ways the most unusual of rorquals. Bryde's Pope is named after the Norwegian ambassador to South Africa, Johan Bryde
14. Arnoux’s Beaked Whale, Berardius arnuxii
The Berardius genus contains two types of beaked whales, Fish Satisfied by Whale Arnoux's Baird. Both species are very similar that some scientists consider their separation to be a different species as a historical anomaly.
15. Humpback Whale, Megaptera novaeangliae
Humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae) are baleen whales. One large rorqual species, adult whales have a length of 12-16 meters and weighs about 36 tons. This humpback whale has a different body shape, with very long pectoral fins and jagged head. These are acrobatic animals, often playing water slaps.
16. Cuvier’s Beaked Whale, Ziphius cavirostris
Cuvier's beaked whale (Ziphius cavirostris) is the most widely distributed of all beaked whales. This is the only member of the genus Ziphius. During the Middle Ages, this animal was considered a monster with the fish's body and the owl's head.
17. Northern Bottle nose Whale, Hyperoodon ampullatus
Bottlenose whales are one of two species of whales, members of the ziphiid family. Both bottle nose whale species Hyperoodon ampullatus north and south bottle Hyperoodon planifrons-whales are the only members of the genus Hyperoodon.
18. Minke Whale, Balaenoptera acutorostrata
Minke whale is the second smallest fish satisfied. After reaching sexual maturity (6-8 years), men averaged 6.9 meters and women 7.4 meters long, respectively. Estimated maximum length varies from 9.1-10.7 meters for women and 8.8-9.8 meters for men.
II. UNIQUE WHALE BEHAVIOR
?This hypothesis states that pilot whales live very close to their families. When a family member is sick and is likely to be stranded on the beach, other family members will 'accompany' the pope. This factor is touted as the reason why we often find many stranded whales .
?Narwhal whales are often called corpse whales. This pope has the Latin name Monodon monoceros. This pope has the habit of being above sea level without moving at all, so it looks like a corpse. Now, because of that habit, this mammal is named whale narwhal which means corpse whale.
?The researchers found that whales, 'sperm whale,' live in a family group. And after recording 4000 types of sound from 2005 to 2010, the researchers concluded that each individual in each area of the whale lived, they used a unique combination of sounds as a code, which was interpreted as a name
?Whales are also known to be friendly and friendly to humans.
?Minke Whale: The whale crashes up to 100 times per hour to eat krill that lives under the sea of ice. Krill hid there, and the whales did a few small strikes, swallowing only a relatively small amount of krill, which was completely different from the way large whales eat. "
?Whale sharks in Papua have a unique habit of eating small fish in the fishing net caught by fishermen. For this uniqueness, the animals are paired with radio-frequency identification (RFID) to be further investigated by the researchers.
?World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and Oregon State University. reveals whale's social habits and behavior and shows how whales use bursts of water to clean the surface of the sea so they can breathe.
?Whales spend a lot of time socializing and resting, then they eat most of it all night and day.
