Get To Know: Prabhudatta Praharaja, GRM East Region Leader for Data & Analytics

We’re excited to welcome Prabhudatta P. (Prabhu) as GRM East Region Director for Data & Analytics! As we gear up towards digitizing and making things better in the #insurance industry, Prabhu makes a great addition to our Liberty family, bringing over 20 years of experience in designing and building large #digital transformation programs across different industries such as banking, insurance and consumer packaged goods (CPG) in Canada, Australia, India and Europe.

We sat with Prabhu to learn more about what his mission is and what he looks forward to in his new role, why tech for insurance is an interesting space to be in, as well as what he enjoys doing outside work.?

1. Welcome to Liberty, Prabhu! We're excited to have you onboard to pave our tech roadmap execution strategy for the East Region. Tell us about what made you join Liberty, your mission in your new role and what you look forward to in your role as GRM East Region Leader for Data & Analytics.?

I’ve always worked in the field of data analytics since the beginning of my career and I bring almost 20 years of global experience working across different industries such as banking, insurance and CPG. ?

Insurance is known to be a traditional business where the adoption of technology isn’t as fast in comparison to other industries. There are plenty of opportunities for tech leaders and organizations to take first mover advantage and transform business models through the quick adoption of technology.??

As GRM East Region Leader for Data & Analytics, my main mission would be to build a robust scalable data analytics platform to support data driven decision making and help Liberty grow profitably in East market.??

That said, I envision myself establishing data democratization, architecture standardization, data governance and build a strong analytical platform to provide necessary insights to business stakeholders across the value chain to drive business growth.?

2. You have almost 20 years of experience as a tech professional working across different industries and geographies. Why work on technology for insurance? What are some tech trends you're excited about and what makes Asia a hot spot to do that???

The insurance industry in Asia has tremendous growth potential and I strongly believe technologies like Data Analytics and AI-ML will play a game-changing role in driving business profitability in Asia.?

Liberty is a reputable, century-old company making the right investment in people, processes and technology to expand its footprint in Asia and I am excited to be part of this journey.?

3. What does being a tech-forward insurance company mean to you? Many people think that tech would replace their jobs. But how do you see this panning out in the insurance industry??

#Technology will complement jobs but not replace them, especially in insurance, which requires human and emotional intelligence to serve our customers in critical situations. Adoption of automation, analytics and AI-ML will help the industry in terms of improving customer experience, quicker policy onboarding, better pricing models, faster claims processing, reduced fraud and providing personalized services but it will not replace human empathy and intelligence to address the complex insurance needs of our customers??

Ultimately, being a tech-forward insurance company means we can leverage the power of technology to build more robust, cost-effective solutions, streamline manual processes, embed data-driven decision making and focus more on our agent and customer experience while running a more profitable business.?

4. Any career advice for aspiring tech leaders and professionals that has personally helped you in your own career journey??

I always got support and guidance from my leadership to innovate and implement new ideas. My advice is: be resilient and never be afraid to share your ideas backed with necessary data points. You will always get the right direction and support from leadership if your idea has merit.?

5. What do you enjoy doing outside work? Any interesting hobbies or facts that you would like to share??

Outside of work, I enjoy painting and traveling with my wife - exploring new places, food, culture and creating lifetime memories.??

I also enjoy giving back to the community through various CSR activities. My passion lies in bridging gaps between academics and industry where I can teach and mentor underprivileged students in remote cities through IT employability programs.?
