What are some common challenges customers face with building materials in construction projects?
Many homeowners are struggling to find the right balance between function and aesthetic. Some materials look great, but may not be the best choice given the household dynamics. Make sure to take your time to find exactly what material will fit your needs long term.
You worked in the PBM Showroom for the last year and a half.? What knowledge did you gain that helps you in your current position?
Working in the showroom gave me a lot of exposure to various material types as well as specific challenges homeowners and designers are trying to address. I feel well equipped to answer a range of questions and know where to find answers when I need help.
How do you feel you can add value for architects?
Just being a resource. I like to clear their runways so they can work.? With our help, architects can spend more time designing instead of trying to find detailed technical data or worry about sourcing quality materials with reasonable lead times.?
What trends do you see on the horizon in building materials?
One trend I see coming is doing more with less processed materials. This speaks to sustainability. Many architects are conscious of embodied carbons in the materials they’re sourcing so I think we’ll see more use of natural products.
What is your favorite part about working at PBM?
Supporting architects and designers who are masters of their craft. It’s impressive to see what these people can put on paper and then have builders execute.

What is a memorable challenge you faced with hardscape materials, and how did you overcome it?
Nothing too dramatic. Nobody has died because of a decision on hardscapes. The typical challenge I face is having customers on a squeezed timeline. The solution is always the same: I have four alternative choices within the color palette ready to go.
What interesting facts have you recently learned?
Responsibility and accountability are not the same. One follows the other.
What do you enjoy doing when you aren’t working?
Writing fiction.
Have you read any good books lately??
All The Pretty Horses, Cormac McCarthy
