How did you come to join DNA?
After studying and working in Johannesburg, I spent two years working in office administration first at an outdoor media company at O.R. Tambo International Airport and later at a recruitment consulting firm. Seeking a fresh start and a change of environment, I applied for a position at DNA. During the interview, I was immediately impressed by the organisation’s potential for growth and the opportunity to relocate to Pretoria. I was thrilled to join a company where I could contribute meaningfully and grow alongside it.
What does your day-to-day at DNA typically entail?
My day-to-day responsibilities at DNA are both varied and engaging, with each day bringing its own set of challenges and opportunities. This includes everything from submitting tenders and organising events to liaising with various stakeholders and even ordering cake for staff treats. My role allows me to collaborate with different teams and contribute to diverse projects, ensuring that our operations are efficient, and our workplace environment is positive.

Over your 17 years with DNA, what are some significant changes you've observed in the company?
Over my 17 years with DNA, I’ve witnessed several significant changes that have marked the company’s progress. When I first joined, DNA was a small firm with fewer than five staff members. Since then, the company has grown substantially, expanding its range of projects and significantly increasing its influence in the field of economics.
What is one of the most bizarre things you've witnessed during your tenure at DNA?
One of the most bizarre experiences during my tenure was coordinating a study visit for 12 government officials from Bangladesh. We were tasked with facilitating their visit to South Africa, where they sought to gain insights into the Public Investment Management (PIM) cycle. The complexity of organising such a visit was massive, as we navigated cultural differences and logistical challenges. What truly stood out was the officials' eagerness to engage themselves in every aspect of our culture. Their curiosity spanned everything from our food and traditions to our economic landscape.
What’s a hobby or activity you do outside of work that helps you recharge?
Outside of work, I find comfort and rejuvenation in my role as a mother to two children, both under the age of ten. Balancing motherhood and work can be challenging, but I have discovered that late afternoon walks are an excellent way to recharge. These simple moments - whether strolling through the park or visiting the Wollies animal shelter - allow me to connect with nature and unwind after a busy day. Engaging with my children and witnessing their curiosity and joy brings me immense happiness and inspires me to bring that same energy into my work.
