Get to know the faces behind Diginex: Meet Daniel Lara – Junior ESG Specialist
Please introduce yourself and explain what your role as a Junior ESG Specialist entails
Hi there! My name is Daniel Lara, but you can call me Danny. At Diginex, I play a key role in keeping our product's ESG and sustainability reporting standards at the forefront.
Being one of the lead trends in the XXI century, sustainability is evolving every day, that's why I use data analysis tools to stay updated on the most significant reporting frameworks across various sectors. This in-depth understanding allows me to not only maintain our product but also provide clients with valuable clarification and advisory services when it comes to implementing these sustainability frameworks.
Q: Tell us about your corporate journey and what you have loved about it the most so far?
A: My passion for sustainability started early. During college, I did a two-year internship in Environmental Strategies and Sustainability. After graduation, I landed a role in the Corporate Sustainable Development Department at the world's largest (and Mexico's leading) copper mining company. Here, I oversaw the Sustainable Development Report and later leveraged my knowledge of climate change to join the team developing GHG emissions inventories (Scopes 1, 2 & 3) and a brand-new strategy for managing supply chain emissions. It was during this time that I discovered the most fulfilling aspect of my work: the positive impact sustainability can have on companies and the world.
Q: What do you wish to achieve here at Diginex?
A: At Diginex, I'm excited to leverage my experience! I aim to integrate best practices from around the world with my insights into corporate sustainability reporting gaps. My goal is to make sustainability reporting easier for our clients while empowering them to push the sustainability agenda forward. By combining my expertise in the mining sector with Diginex's innovative tools, I hope to streamline the reporting process for our clients.

Q: What would you say your biggest accomplishment is and why?
A: I have found out that for me, success becomes tangible when you enjoy what you do and after you work to become very good at what you do. In this regard, I have strived to know what my passions are, and I have fought hard to be good at them, in that journey I have learnt discipline and resilience. Being young, its hard for me to pick the one moment that stands out because for me, every small accomplishment is part of the road I must take to get to where I want, for
example: when I graduated college, every time I’ve got to climb a podium 1st place, every time I have took the mic to give a lecture or a pitch and every time I have delivered a successful project. So, until I get there, my biggest accomplishment is. learning the strength and resilience it takes to accomplish goals.
Q: Aside from work, what are some of your passions/hobbies?
A: Outside of work, I have two main passions. The first is swimming, a sport I've enjoyed since childhood. It allows me to maintain a healthy balance between work and life, offering a form of semi-meditation while also fueling my competitive spirit in a positive way.
My second passion is my Spanish-language podcast, "Sembrando Opiniones" (Cropping Opinions in English). Discussing critical sustainability issues brings me a great sense of fulfillment. Creating a podcast felt like the perfect way to share my knowledge and engage in meaningful conversations.
Q: What is the best advice you have ever received?
A: The best advice I've ever received: "The one who knows the outside has knowledge, the one who knows himself is wise, the one who conquers others is powerful, but the one who conquers himself is invincible." This quote inspires me to continually learn and grow, both professionally and personally.
