Get to know the faces behind Diginex: Meet Connie Leung – Software Architect
I embarked on my journey at Diginex alongside Mark, Gray, Red, Josiah, and Arman. My evolution at Diginex encompasses three pivotal stages:?
Gray, our leader, fosters a culture of freedom and support within tech teams, allowing us to choose the right technical stack for building Diginex products. In the initial stages, we embraced Vue and NestJS, ensuring adherence to guidelines and best practices. Gray's unwavering support enabled the adoption of Microservices in ESG, enhancing scalability, reducing build times, and maintaining codebase integrity. The present stature of Diginex technology is a testament to Gray's exceptional leadership.?
?
I find immense satisfaction in the collaborative environment at Diginex, fostering open communication. I have the privilege of engaging with Gray, addressing concerns about the ESG platform, and participating in discussions on technological advancements. Likewise, product teams seek my input for advice on new features, where I provide insights into potential challenges, risks, and assumptions for their success. Our tech team conducts bi-weekly Engineering Catchup sessions, featuring developer demos and the introduction of new tools that streamline workflows and elevate codebase quality. In this hour-long session, engineers act as both teachers and learners, exchanging knowledge and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.?

My biggest accomplishment is attaining the recognition of Google Developer Expert (GDE) in Angular this year. When an individual is awarded a GDE status in a specific category, Google team acknowledges that individual as an expert and has made substantial contributions to the community. Google Angular team believes I am an expert in Angular framework and trusts my ability to share Angular knowledge with beginners. More importantly, I am the first person in Hong Kong and the fourth in Taiwan and Hong Kong region to achieve this prestigious feat.?

Before the Covid pandemic, coding with my laptop consumed all my leisure time. However, during the pandemic, I cultivated the hobbies of running and blogging, which transformed my lifestyle physically, mentally, and professionally. Engaging in a morning run serves as a refreshing start to my workday at home, clearing my mind and boosting my overall well-being. Blogging has honed my writing skills and turned me to a teacher. Through platforms like dev.to and my YouTube channel, I have made impacts to the Angular community, earning recognition as a Google Developer Expert in Angular.?

I recommend aspiring software engineers to prioritize mastering the foundational principles of software engineering and developing essential soft skills as they embark on their tech careers. While programming languages and web frameworks evolve rapidly, the importance of fundamentals such as data structures, algorithms, and clean architectures remains constant. The proficiency in soft skills becomes a catalyst for professional growth from junior to senior positions. Effective writing and communication skills not only enhance engineers' impact within technical teams but also contribute significantly to the success of projects and engagement with stakeholders.?
