In today's article you'll GET TO KNOW Danuta. Who is Danuta and what is her job?

She'll tell you!

What is your job description and what are your core tasks?

I joined epilot as a Product Engineer focused on frontend, though my core tasks aren’t limited to just that. Being a Product Engineer is different from being a frontend engineer only. It means owning what you build, from start to finish, which requires understanding at least the basics of backend too. I’ve only been here for two months, but I’ve already explored backend repos—which has been a cool learning experience! Besides building, I also tackle daily challenges like interface improvements, performance issues, testing and code reviews. In the end, my goal is to create a product that our customers will love.

What does your day-to-day work look like?

I usually start my day at 9 AM. As of now, every day is different for me! But there are some routines. On Mondays, I plan the week’s tasks with my team, setting priorities. On Fridays, we meet to recap our progress. The rest of the week, I focus on executing my planned tasks while also tackling unplanned challenges such as customer-reported issues, bug fixes, code reviews, and testing—these are all important parts of my role. Since I’m still new at epilot, I also use any available time to explore, ask questions and getting familiar with as many features and tools as possible to make my work more efficient.

How did you find epilot? What is your "epilot story"?

I was lucky enough to receive a message on LinkedIn from epilot HR (thanks, Aiko!) at the perfect time. I think it was just a matter of a few days before I would have accepted a different job offer. While I was initially unsure whether it would be possible to complete the recruitment process in just a week (which was all the time I had left), epilot made it happen. I remember Aiko saying, "Congratulations on your parallel offer, but I'm sure you'll be happier at epilot." And I’m glad to say he was right! I am more than happy here!

What was your greatest success at epilot?

I’ve already had the chance to bring a couple of small features to life in my first two months, which I’m really proud of! But my biggest success has been learning to work efficiently in such a fast-paced environment. I jumped in, shipped my first features, and now I’m fully on this ride. Fingers crossed for even bigger achievements!

What do you wish for the future?

My journey with epilot is just beginning, and I’m focused on growing, gaining confidence, and becoming more efficient in my decision-making. Once I’ve got that, I’ll be ready to bring new ideas to life, push boundaries, and move things forward with full force!

What advice would you give to others who are interested in engineering?

Remember that engineering is not only about programming. The biggest challenges I face daily don’t relate to the code itself, but to how I approach building things—why I’m building them and the steps I take to get there. You need to try building something yourself to fully understand what engineering is. Try creating a small project: plan it, execute it, ship it. It will teach you a lot, add value to your portfolio, and might help you land an awesome (epilot) job. In fact, one of my portfolio projects helped me land my role!

?? "Congratulations on your parallel offer, but I'm sure you'll be happier at epilot." Great Sales pitch, Aiko. In the end it is about "show, don't tell". Telling this our future epilots is the one thing, but of course we as company also need to deliver on those promises. I am glad epilot GmbH could prove ourself ?? Glad to have you onboard Danuta! Enjoy your time in Thailand ??
