Get to Know Christine Hutchison, Reimagine Power's Director of Operations

Christine Hutchison (she/her) is the Director of Operations for Reimagine Power. She grew up in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio, with her twin brother, Nick, and older sister, Allie Detrio , who is Reimagine Power’s founder and Chief Strategist. Christine’s introduction to the energy industry started at a very young age while living down the street from an active coal plant, a few miles from a nuclear power plant, and playing soccer under the power lines. These experiences have inspired her and her family to promote better and more sustainable energy practices which has led her to where she is today.?

Christine attended Ohio University located in the small town of Athens, Ohio where she spent much of her time enjoying the beautiful Appalachian scenery and hiking along the Hocking River. There, she received a bachelor’s degree in Restaurant and Hotel Management, with a minor in Business Administration. About a year after graduation, Christine and her now-husband, Kevin, moved down to Raleigh, North Carolina to expand their careers and plant their roots. Christine enjoys cooking, trying out new recipes, staying active, playing outside with her daughter Josephine “Joey”, and traveling with her husband and friends.? She has traveled to 12 different countries across the globe and looks forward to exploring more of the U.S. with her family as Joey grows.?

The technical and political sides of energy policy were never Christine’s bread and butter; however, she has always excelled in human relations and navigating the administrative landscape. Eventually, she found herself happily working at a local vet office managing the front desk operations. During her pregnancy, Christine and her husband decided she would put her career on pause to stay home with their daughter and the timing could not have worked out better as her sister, Allie, had just begun establishing Reimagine Power. As the business began to grow, Christine was able to step in and work remotely to help Allie get organized which allowed the sisters to expand the company and their roles even further. In 2022, Christine enrolled at Wake Technical College and earned certifications in Payroll Accounting and Human Resource Administration while staying home with her daughter and continuing her work with Reimagine Power.

Christine’s favorite part about working at Reimagine Power is the freedom that she has to be creative and provide a support structure for her sister. She enjoys getting to contribute to the company culture of a very unique, quickly growing, and hard-working team. One of her favorite projects so far has been creating the website from the ground up. Being able to build an entire website to provide informational value about our team and mission has been a gratifying experience for her. Another project that brings Christine joy has been the company newsletter, The Bolt. Collaborating with Allie, the two have worked on several editions of the newsletter, and have amassed a following of more than 500 subscribers.?

The near future holds great potential and Christine is ready to see Reimagine Power continue to blossom. She is charging into 2024 with a full team and is expecting a year of growth, both in project development and workload diversity. In her daily life, she is excited to watch her family grow and see more of North Carolina, the states, and the world.
