Get to Know a Chameleon

Get to Know a Chameleon

In our second installment of CCG's "Get to Know a Chameleon", we invite you to meet one of our Software Engineers, Nate, and how he is blending in while standing out in a new and small company.

How long have you worked at CCG?

About 2 years

What were you doing / what kind of company were you working for before coming to CCG?

Attending University of Illinois

What made you join CCG?

I was hired when the company was still less than 10 people. I was worried at first that joining a startup was going to be risky, but because of the nature of the work and the reputation of the talent, CCG had a very promising future. The level of excitement from the top made me see that they were not only of the same mind as me, but truly cared about the work they were doing.

Was there a specific moment when you knew "this is an awesome company and I'm really glad I'm here?" Tell me about that moment.

Not a specific moment, but the collection of times I have spent with my coworkers. Everyone seems like they genuinely enjoy being here, it feels more like a college club where everyone gets paid to solve hard problems.

Are you a morning person or a night owl?

I like mornings more, but I hate waking up. You will never catch me awake before 8:30.

If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?

A bird. They fly around and eat berries all day, then sleep and repeat. Seems nice and relaxing.

What would be the ultimate scientific discovery?

Faster than light travel. It's not the most immediate scientific need, but it would open a (literal) universe of possibilities.

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would it be?

Grant Imahara. He seemed like the kind of person I would get along quite well with.

How would you describe the culture of CCG?

Relaxed. We are serious and highly professional when we need to be, but in general everyone just acts like a human and we are better for it.

What is keeping you at CCG? What do you like about it?

The people are amazing, the work is enjoyable, and the benefits make me feel like I am paid to stay, not just to be here while I'm cheap.

Why should someone join us?

If you are excited by hard problems and enjoy a fun work culture, there is no better place to work.
