Get to Know Carrie Breisach

As senior director of Future Intelligence in Consumer & Market Intelligence at General Mills, Carrie Breisach is focused entirely on the future. With 18 years at General Mills, she leads a talented team focused on uncovering key trends and insights that help shape informed decision-making across the organization.

We recently caught up with Carrie to learn more about her journey at General Mills and the passions that inspire her.

What energizes you most about your role as Senior Director of Future Intelligence?

I thrive on curiosity and staying plugged into the world around me – it’s a fundamental part of my role. It’s incredibly rewarding to connect the dots and work with creative people to translate what we’re seeing into new actions, ideas and products. The little kid in me could have never dreamed of this job!

How long have you worked at General Mills?

I’ve been with General Mills for 18 years, starting as an intern in 2006 and transitioning to a full-time role in 2007.

What's one professional accomplishment you’re particularly proud of?

In 2024, I received two company leadership awards, including a Champions Award, our most prestigious internal recognition. This was a significant moment for me, as I truly felt my leadership impact reached a new level. This was made possible by stepping into a role that aligned with my strengths and development goals, along with support and coaching from incredible leaders and my talented, resilient team.

Outside of work, what are some of your passions that drive you?

As a proud mom to two amazing kids, I love traveling with them to explore history, culture, and new possibilities beyond their everyday experiences.

I also have a passion for photography, which allows me to capture special moments that my family will always want to remember. Cooking and sharing meals around the table with my family also brings me great joy.

What advice would you give to someone looking to start a career in the CPG industry?

Embrace your curiosity and follow it to new discoveries and possibilities. Read everything you can about food, people, and brands. Listen to interesting podcasts on strategy and human behavior.

When you travel, take time to visit grocery stores and observe what’s universal and what’s culturally unique. Talk to people – ask them questions, truly listen to what they say, and watch what they do. There's so much richness in paying attention to the world around you. Nurturing your curiosity will lead to novel discoveries, new connections, and who knows – maybe even a lifelong career!

What is your favorite General Mills product?

Honey Nut Cheerios is forever a favorite. ??

What is one thing that you can’t live without?

The digital calendar, task list, and meal planner that sits in our kitchen and keeps my whole family on track – especially on those days we’re pulled in a dozen different directions!

How would your friends or family describe you in three words?

Warm, creative, and joyful.

What’s a fun or surprising fact about you that your colleagues might not know?

When my kids started competitive swimming, I became a certified USA Swimming Stroke & Turn Official in Minnesota so I could be on deck during their meets and support them in doing what they love. While I’m not a swimmer myself, it’s been fun learning the intricacies of something totally new to me.
