Get to know Audra Fry, Recruiting Manager - Student Programs

What is your favorite Amazon memory?

My interview with Amazon was unlike any other interview experience I’ve ever had. I felt prepared, but mostly I was just enthralled with every person I spoke to that day. I got to the end of my interview loop having more energy than when I started…how often can anyone ever say that?! I knew then Amazon would be the perfect fit. Now as a Recruiting Manager in Student Programs, the candidate experience is incredibly important to me. I want our candidates to have that same sense of energy and excitement I felt when they’re speaking to Amazonians. I want them to feel prepared and use the interview as an opportunity to tell their own compelling story through the eyes of our Leadership Principles.

What is something you have done that you would consider innovative or pioneering at Amazon so far?

We recently hosted a Career Services Summit with a selection of top universities to help educate practitioners on Undergraduate Non-Technical opportunities at Amazon. When surveyed, 100% of participants indicated they felt more equipped to send their bar-raising students to Amazon. Not only was this a success for our recruiting initiatives, but it also helped us Earn Trust with our university stakeholders, who are some of our biggest customers.

What brings you passion/excitement to your role and team?

Our team has the most passionate recruiters I’ve ever seen. They’re passionate about student hiring, but also passionate about the people, places and things which inspire them. Every day we share new ideas (and product/food recommendations) and it’s so fun to share and learn about new personal and professional recommendations the team is currently loving.

What do you do for fun/ work life balance?

When I’m not busy hiring and developing the best, you’ll catch me moving. I love to run and take long walks. I also have my boater’s license and love to be out on the water as much as possible. Lastly, I’m also very passionate about home renovation. Earlier this year we purchased an old 1800s home near Lake Erie that we’re restoring to its former glory, with a modern twist. Makes for a fun WFH retreat!

What is your favorite leadership principle and why?

Customer Obsession. I have worked in customer service since I got my first job at age 15. I love starting with the customer (whether it’s a student, a line of business, or an internal/external partner), and analyzing their experience and the service we’re providing through their eyes. It’s keeps us honest, it keeps us focused, and it keeps us innovative.

Best place you have ever traveled?

A very difficult tie between Maui and Florence, Italy

Best work from home tip?

I recently purchased a desk that sits on top of my treadmill and I love it (purchased on Amazon.com, of course!) It helps me stay focused in meetings but also keeps me active and I’m able to better avoid that mid-afternoon slump I used to feel during early WFH times.

What is your favorite book/movie/podcast?

I am an avid podcast listener – if I’m not talking, I’m listening to something. A few of my many favorites are Stuff You Should Know and Chasing Life.

Recently I finished my MBA in Marketing and I'm looking for an internship opportunity in a company in the USA Note that I have a visa and me and an exchange organization will be handling the internship process, fees and any sponsorship fees. I will be more than thankful if you take a look at my resume and give me advice Regards

Is there a way for the talent in community college students to be considered? For many talented kids who may be the first to graduate from high school in their family, an associates degree is what they can afford. This includes first generation Americans and underserved low income populations.
