Get knocked down? Get back up! - moulding the project

Slightly misleading title as it could be a about the knee operation I had... But it's still relevant to what the post is about!

I've always said sailing around the world was one thing that will never go away. So I've spent the last few years looking to learn the necessary skills on and off the water. Clearly, to find the money it is pure sales and marketing. You need to be able to sell sand to the Arabs, snow to the Inuit and Google+ to Facebook (sorry Google). Not easy when you're versed in engineering but it's definitely something that can help make it happen! For example, organising and planning your networking... Eg Mark Corbett's hustling through the snow (link to the article).

After being injured, that idea had a chip or two taken out of it... What happens if I get injured again? How else do I make an impact or can keep opening doors whilst recovering? This was the first 'get up', to combine engineering companies to schools through sailing. Great way to connect with the companies to sponsor more sailing and a great way to get positive PR... So thought that would be a great idea!

That was till that idea had it's knee taken out... Just think, taking kids out of say a deprived area and showing them how the rich live then taking them back... The 'rich' think they have done a great job and the kids just think "great, now what?"

Now, whilst I'm getting back up, the idea is getting bigger and better through people around me. It's still got tastes of the original idea but much more structured and really make a difference not only to them, but schools, companies and the country! The idea is still being drawn up so I won't whet your appetite more than that, but if you want more then follow the page.

So, what I've learned? I've learned that although you do get knocked down (or stand up, read here) there was clearly a weak point and something that you can rebuild stronger and better!
