About the UN Ocean Decade Conference

This decade (2021-2030) is recognized by the United Nations as the Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development to stimulate ocean science, advance scientific knowledge, reverse the decline of ocean health, and catalyze new opportunities for the sustainable development of our blue planet.

From April 10-12, 2024, global leaders, policymakers, grassroots organizers, scientific experts, and ocean advocates alike will gather in Barcelona for the UN Ocean Decade Conference (UNODC) to celebrate and take stock of progress and set joint priorities for the future of our ocean.

Sustainable Ocean Alliance is honored to partake in this global event alongside our network of young ocean leaders, ecopreneurs, partners, and beyond to deliver the science we need for the ocean we want.

From indigenous-led ocean stewardship to workshops on ocean literacy, SOA and our partners are bringing you a diverse array of events and opportunities for this moment of ocean action.

Discover SOA's partnered satellite events below, and check out the full list of UNODC satellite events here.

Won't be at the UN Ocean Decade Conference? Catch SOA later in the month as we co-host the Our Ocean Youth Leadership Summit in Greece (April 14-17) and partake in SF Climate Week (April 21-27)!
