A monthly catch-up call with your bookkeeper is a great way to monitor your business’s debts, income and overall financial performance. It helps you see what you’re spending and highlights where you may need to cut costs. It can also flag potential problems which, if not resolved quickly, could become time-consuming??headaches later on—things like missing or incorrect invoices, transaction errors in your bank statement, or inconsistencies between your bank statement and your business accounts.
If there are any additional reports that could help you run your business more efficiently, the monthly catch up meeting is a great place to discuss these with your bookkeeper or payroll. The meeting is also an opportunity to ask about any upcoming changes that you may need to budget for such as the recent introduction of statutory sick pay and the plans to introduce pensions auto-enrolment from next year.
