Get Familiar With Twitter Ads

Twitter is quite a bit smaller than Facebook or Youtube, but that doesn't mean it can't be a great advertising channel. In this article, we'll help you get familiar with the different types of Twitter ads.

A lot of advertisers are indeed more familiar with Facebook adsInstagram ads, and Google ads. Still, I hope this article gets you onboard the Twitter ads train.

I know that Twitter is a great advertising platform.

As of January 2020, there are 340 million active Twitter users.

Okay, so the chart shows that Tiktok, Weibo, and Snapchat have more users than Twitter.

Is this bad? I don't think so. Just because a lot of users and advertisers ignore Twitter doesn't mean there's ZERO business opportunity on the platform.

The 130,000 advertisers on Twitter know that the opportunities on the platform are only going to get bigger and bigger. If you are a savvy advertiser, then you know that you have a chance of attracting the right audience in a less crowded area.

Twitter ads present a new way to reach and understand your customers because they have:

  • A Valuable Audience - Twitter users are influential, responsive, and enthusiastic to discover new brands, products, and services. So when you're building a marketing plan, target Twitter users.
  • Diverse Ad Formats - Twitter has a lot of proven advertising solutions like video pre-roll, mobile app install cards, and many more to help target your most profitable audience.
  • Amplify Ad Message - Get Twitter users talking about your product, service, business, or brand—no minimum budget.

Following the above, here are the different types of Twitter ads.

The Different Types Of Twitter Ads

Twitter currently offers six ad formats. This is good news for those who can't decide what kind of Twitter ad to launch.

Let's start with...

1. Promoted Tweets

Promoted Tweets are like regular tweets that appear directly in users' feeds. However, they are labeled as "Promoted" and don't necessarily come from a Twitter account that the user follows.

2. Promoted Video

Promoted Videos are an attention-grabbing type of Twitter ad. These are auto-played videos displayed in-feed to engage Twitter users in their timeline.

You can also add hashtags and mentions in your ad text.

3. In-Stream Video Ads And Sponsorships

Advertisers can partner with premium, engaging, and brand-safe publishers with Twitter's In-Stream Video Ads and Sponsorships. Their goal is to to reach a responsive target audience with an in-feed, pre-roll video.

This type of Twitter ad has a tag that says "Ad by (Name of a brand)," like the ads that appear on Youtube videos.

Take note that there's no minimum campaign spend. You can choose a daily budget for your ads and consider starting with at least $30 per day to reach audiences throughout the day consistently.

Now, you need to choose the tweets you want to focus on in your Twitter ad campaign.

Don't forget to add a strong CTA like Sign Up, Start Today. Also, don't add hashtags (#) or mentions (@) in your ad copy to stop users from clicking away from your ad.

6. Take Advantage of Analytics

Your work doesn't end after launching your ad. You still need to analyze the overall performance of your ad.
