Get the Company portal during AutoPilot ESP

Get the Company portal during AutoPilot ESP

Introduction:

Untill recently the new Microsoft Store apps where being installed after the Windows AutoPilot proces. If you use the company portal to provide your users with available software, it could take some time before the company portal was available. Untill now... because Microsoft has annouced support of installing the new Microsoft Store apps during Windows AutoPilot.

Time to test it out ;)

New Microsoft Store Apps

Within the new Microsoft Store apps you have the option the change the install behavior of the app to system, i've changed it to System

Proceed with the app creation, and assign it to the appropriate group.

Check process during AutoPilot ESP

During AutoPilot proces you can press Shift F10 and open a register editor. Look for key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Autopilot\EnrollmentStatusTracking\Device\Setup\Apps\Tracking\Sidecare

Within this node you will find the Win32 apps that are installed during enrollment.

In this case the Company Portal has the number starting with 0027xxxx. You can easily find the correct numbers by installing the Powershell module GetIntuneApps written by Andrew Taylor , see links below this article.

Block device untill required app are installed.

Now with the support of installing the New Microsoft store apps during AutoPilot ESP you can also choose to block the device until the Company Portal is installed. You can change or create a new ESP page for this.

Home > Devices > Enroll Devices > Enrollment Status Page

Select the Company Portal as required app, and the enrolled devices will have the Company Portal during AutoPilot ESP
