We all need to be able to say NO at work. It's part of being able to focus, prioritise and make progress.

NO is fundamental to prioritising. Achieving our business strategies and plans depend on us saying NO. It’s our duty to say NO so that we stay on track.

Saying NO is part of your role. Yet "NO" seems elusive to many of us doesn’t it? It feels like a dirty word. NO feels like we are avoiding work.

My recent poll showed that 90% of us sometimes struggle to say no. Only 1 in 10 of us feel able to say NO consistently.

Saying YES can be a NO-NO.

When we say yes to too many things it negatively impacts us: our productivity declines, the quality of our work and work-life suffers, our mental health is impacted and we become overwhelmed. Worse we can burn out. Little of no control of our workload is deemed one of the major causes of burnout.

The irony of SAYING NO

Successful people say NO all the time. They are empowered and give themselves permission to walk away. They stand in their power and prioritise with confidence. It is ironic that NO can help us get better, achieve more and be more successful. SAYING NO is the fast lane to FOCUS, PRIORITISATION and PRODUCTIVITY.

BUT many of us can't say NO. And this can have major impacts on us and those around us. Consequently, you or your whole team might feel overwhelmed, under-resourced or falling behind.
