Get Active this Autumn

Get Active this Autumn

Autumn is here! The greatest of all seasons in my humble opinion. Cool nights, warm days, calm wind, great surf, and an abundance of public holidays to make the most of. Here are my top tips to get active this Autumn.

A government initiative to improve the health of the community. Sign up online, download the app and take advantage of all that is on offer. If you have always wanted to try group fitness classes such as Body Pump, Aqua Aerobics, Spin or Zumba, then now is your opportunity. 10 free passes to your local YMCA (of which there are many) is readily available. So is cardio tennis, Tai Chi, Lawn Bowls, boxing classes, Angling lessons, Croquet, Walking groups and much much more. Get amongst it.

A fantastic app produced by Parks Victoria. This lists all of Victoria’s most popular parks. There are over 50 in metropolitan Melbourne, making this a great way to explore this most liveable of cities. You will find info on what is available and allowed (bbq’s, dogs, bikes), some brief info, and a map on how to get there. Start ticking a few off your list this Autumn.

For other hints and tips on how to stay healthy and injury free, get in touch with your local exercise physiologist
