Get a 10 year old's outlook on 2017

It took my 10 year old son to make me really understand what my New Year's resolution should be. He understood in one question what many of us adults grapple with throughout our lives and careers.
When asked what his resolution for 2017 was going to be he said, without hesitation,
"To carry on being me."
It might sound like a throwaway line but when you really think about it he's spot on.
If each of us could totally understand who we were and could be the very best version of that all year what an impact that would make! Imagine being the very best version of yourself at home, at work and in your own skin. It would be epic and also totally awesome (to coin more of my 10 year old's phrases).
Epic fact one: No-one else can be you, we are all totally unique. So to start with we all have something no-one else can offer.
Epic fact two: Being yourself makes you happy and content. You only have to watch Big Brother to see how difficult and damaging it can be to keep up an act 24/7.
Epic fact three (hum 'Eye Of The Tiger' to yourself at this point): Being the best at it means, not only are you unique, but you are the world leader, the undisputed champion at being you!
So I don't know about you, but I am going to take my son's advice and set myself the 2017 New Year's resolution of 'being me'.
Awesome.

8 年Hi Kelly, nice insight that's recognisable to anyone who has struggled to "stay me". This time of year is good to reflect with honesty, am I really sure I am being me? Last time I made this mistake it wasn't so easy to recognise for myself and then, to believe it was happening!
