Germany plans to limit the number of Afghan refugees entering the country.
It was previously reported that German authorities are removing existing Afghan refugees from shelters to make room for those arriving from Ukraine.
According to Khaama Press, citing the German news magazine Der Spiegel, the German Ministry of Interior intends to admit no more than 5,000 Afghans per year.
According to SchengenVisaInfo.com, the decision to impose quotas was made in order to keep the program for relocating Afghans to Germany operationally viable.
According to Khaama Press, the idea of limiting the number of Afghan nationals admitted to Germany each year has not been well received.
According to the aforementioned, such an idea had been criticized. According to a Green Party Bundestag member, organizations have assisted approximately 3,000 people and have reported tens of thousands of people who are still in danger.
According to the German Ministry of Interior, as many as 18,800 Afghans have entered Germany since the Taliban's takeover.
According to Info Migrants, however, over 10,000 people who have been granted asylum by German authorities remain in Afghanistan, according to the Khaama Press.
