German and Austrian national teams count on Die Ligen for match analysis

By the time the German national women’s team emerged with a 2-1 victory from their match last Saturday against their English counterparts in front of a record-breaking 77,768 fans at Wembley stadium, the analysts of the German FA had already tagged all important events on their own laptop.

This is made possible through the live capture of the camera signal, as provided by Die Ligen, in addition to direct data transfer immediately after the full-time whistle. Since the start of 2019 we have covered every game of the German national women’s team as well as various German youth teams and alongside live tagging have also been able to execute tactically-focussed video recordings (Tactic Feed) and team-tactical match analyses. The German FA especially values the quality of our tactical recordings, our reliability and our large network of video operators, who can be used flexibly in many European countries. International games have already been filmed in a total of 10 countries, including France, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Ukraine, England, Sweden, Greece and the Netherlands. We also regularly film matches of the Austrian national teams, starting from the Under-15’s all the way up to the senior squad, who we recently accompanied in Ljubljana as they won 1-0 away to Slovenia.

The analyses of the teams we cover are conducted by the coaching staff using our video material and subsequently presented to the players. The most important element in this regard: the concept of contextual analysis, whereby all information from a game can be applied within its context. This methodology enables a higher level of understanding and clarity amongst analysts, coaches and also players, since the categorisation and evaluation of match situations follows a clear logic. Thanks to consistent principles and rules, subjective aspects are able to be portrayed in an objective manner.

In the upcoming international break we will once again be involved in a number of junior fixtures, including the Germany U16 friendly against the Czech Republic as well as the meeting in Spain between the German Under-18’s and Valencia CF. Equally as far as the Austrian youth teams are concerned (U16, U18, U19, U21), we will be covering numerous matches. The highlight of the week in our view then follows on Saturday as the Austrian senior team takes on North Macedonia at the Ernst-Happel stadium in Vienna as part of their European qualification campaign.
