Geomembrane Anchor Trench Design

Geomembranes and composite geomembranes have detailed requirements for laying and anchoring during use. geomembranes and composite geomembranes have different anchoring methods depending on the construction environment. Most of them use trench anchoring and nail anchoring. , anchoring HDPE E lock and building anchoring platforms.

Trench anchoring: Trench anchoring is generally used in the construction of geomembranes in landfills, solid waste landfills, and tailings treatment sites. When using trench anchoring, an anchoring trench of appropriate width and depth should be dug according to the use conditions and stress conditions of the geomembrane. Generally, the width of the anchoring trench is 0.5m-1.0m, and the depth of the anchoring trench is 0.5m-1.0m. After the anchor trench is dug, the geomembrane should be laid in the anchor trench and backfilled with soil.

Nail anchoring: When the construction surface is a wall made of concrete, cement, wood board, red brick, iron plate or other materials, nail anchoring should generally be used for geomembrane and composite geomembrane construction. When using nail anchoring, you should choose a batten with a width greater than 2cm and a thickness greater than 2mm. The batten is mostly made of stainless steel. The distance between nails should be less than 0.4m. The exposed parts of the batten should be treated with anti-corrosion and anti-rust treatment.

Anchorage of HDPE E LOCK: When the construction surface is made of concrete or cement, the embedded parts (geomembrane connection lock: E-type lock or T-type lock) should be buried in the concrete or cement in advance before laying the anti-seepage geomembrane. When laying the geomembrane, you only need to weld the exposed parts of the geomembrane and embedded parts together.

Note: This work requires attention to thermal expansion and contraction to prevent the welding position from being torn due to the drop in temperature.

In some tailings treatment projects, most of the rocks have almost no soil and anchoring trenches cannot be excavated. Instead, cement steps built on steeper slopes, cement anchoring trenches can be built, and then the geomembrane can be filled and fixed.
